Publisher's Summary

The Rage launch the ultimate assault on the Human Sphere. Their greatest weapons are the most fearsome creatures in the galaxy - the Xenomorphs.

Having fled centuries before, the Rage return to take revenge and claim the planet for their own. Now, through a deal struck with the unlikeliest of allies, the human race may rely on the Predators to ensure mankind's ultimate freedom. Yet even the combined might of the two races may not be enough.

The fate of the Earth may rest with a single android - Liliya of the Rage.

Excellent. Iffy Ending.. but Excellent

WAR!! Rage forces - powered by born & bred Xenomorph troops and assisted by a highly advanced mysterious alien entitiy known simply as "The Phase" - enter the Human Sphere.. attacking Earth herself. Hilariously outgunned Weyland-Yutani Colonial Marines team up with better-armed Yautja forces to fight back.
Tim Lebbon does a marvellous job balancing political & military strategizing, scientific enquiries into countering enemy advantages, and desperate, gory in-the-trenches combat to deliver a well-written, horror-tinged, fast-paced narrative.
Less fortunately, this book has a distinct "fan-fiction" feel to it.. Lebbon is clearly geeking out on the subject matter - giving the book a sophomoric aura. Additionally, the author resorts to a 'Deus Ex Machina' (out of nowhere rescue) plot resolution that is somewhat anticlimactic. You'll just have to listen to see what I'm talking about.

As to presentation: I quite enjoyed reader John Chancer's narration on this project. Audible Studios sound engineers soften his natural sibilance admirably.. allowing his commendable diction, cadence, pacing, and tone to shine through. Chancer annoyingly continues to display some cartoonish character voices.. but this is an above-average listening experience overall.

Altogether, 'Alien vs Predator: Armageddon' rates 9/10 stars. It requires some suspension of disbelief, but if you can get into the proper "Comic-Con Nerd" state of mind, the book is legitimately entertaining. This audiobook was a great way to spend a couple of quiet afternoons.. easily worth the Credit.
