I struggled every day, looking to put something on the table, but it was my life, and no one had a right to take it. Especially not Eris Lanyer, lord of the city, the very same who was supposed to keep people such as myself safe! The nobleman killed me without a second thought for the sole purpose of testing the blade he had just acquired! So here I am, burning with such a rage at this flagrant lack of justice. My hate is so immense that I'm unable to pass to the afterlife, and so I return as a Revenant.

Publisher's Summary
Max was a professional soldier, and extremely good at his job. Right up until it killed him.
At the moment of his death, he meets Hildi the Valkyrie, and is given three options. Serve Odin in Valhalla as one of the Einherjar, fighting each day and celebrating each night until the battle of Ragnarok. Accept his death as final, and end his existence. Or be reincarnated as a Battleborne on a random unknown world.
Max chooses to gamble! To live a new life, whatever that might entail. Favored with a blessing of the Valkyries, who gift him with an unusual bloodline, he is reborn on a world of magic and monsters. In fact, his own new body is half monster!
Thrust into the world with nothing but a canvas diaper, sharp teeth, and claws, Max must use his skills as a soldier to improvise and survive. There are no respawns, and at level zero, nearly everything can kill him.
With his new status as one of the Battleborne, much is expected of Max. Dangerous and difficult quests are presented to him, and the loot ranges from filthy goblin loincloths to epic weapons!
Join Max as he learns to navigate his new life, struggling with the instincts of his monster bloodlines, and taking advantage of them at the same time.

solid storytelling
The narrators did a fantastic job and the storytelling was solid with the author doing a good job of making you emotionally attached to characters even ones that were only around for a short time. Character development was a little weak or none existent in some aspects but this did not hinder the story. It definitely has some room for improvement, especially with the portrayal of female characters which felt all samey and existed only as sexual partners for the MC rather than long term lovers. All in all a solid book and I'll be picking up the sequel when it comes out.

fun light read
I cruised through the book fairly quickly it is fun and rewarding to hear the protagonist win all the time but there is also a sensation that he's never really facing any real challenges and his opponents are kind of nerfed while he is pretty much Op. in addition if you don't mind some plot holes for example why is being in a different Universe making him have a computer interface and then you should enjoy this book although towards the end when he is really a acsending in power level everything kind of feels unimportant and not that engaging. the performance was great!!!

A Great Listen
This is first fantasy book so I can't make any comparisons. I was immediately drawn into this story though. The voice acting is wonderful! The story really makes me feel like I'm playing an RPG and I appreciate it being straightforward. Female characters need a little work. I'm looking forward to the next book.
