Story
Exalting war and art in harmony, the warrior-artisans of the Angels Resplendent have forged a radiant haven amidst a blighted galaxy. But an ancient sin stains their honour - a wound in their world that will never heal. Ignorant souls would call it a forest, but those who watch over it know better. Nothing natural grows in the Reverie’s snow-swept glades or wanders amongst the unnatural things that do, save for the intruders who trespass on its pain. Some seek revelation or redemption, others dream of winning a place amongst the Resplendent, but all come because they must.

There are many secrets in the dark places of the Old World. From the cities of the Empire, where men huddle together in defiance of the darkness that sweeps across the land, to the vast, savage forests that house all manner of terrible beasts, everywhere you look there is a dark tale or ancient legend waiting to be unearthed. Publisher's Summary
A Warhammer Horror novel.
Many years ago, the Great Enchanter Drachenfels was defeated by brave adventurers. Now, playwright Detlef Sierck plans a production showing these events - at the site of the necromancer's death. But the dead do not rest easy.
It's the original Warhammer Horror novel. Hailing from the late 1980s, it depicts an early version of the Warhammer world and is packed with spine-chilling moments and memorable characters - there's a reason it's still a dearly loved title 30 years after its original release!
Detlef Sierck, the self-proclaimed greatest playwright in the world, has declared that his next production will be a re-creation of the end of the Great Enchanter Drachenfels - to be staged at the very site of his death, the Fortress of Drachenfels itself. But the castle's dark walls still hide a terrible secret which may make the opening night an evening to remember!
A classic Warhammer novel - 30 years old this year - returns in a brand-new edition under the Warhammer Horror imprint.
It includes a new introduction by the author, the horror legend Kim Newman, whose real name is appearing on the cover for the very first time. Written by Kim Newman, writing as Jack Yeovil.
Narrated by Antonia Beamish.

The Play must go on! Even WHEN ITS REAL😈
A wealth of lore and information about various personalities in the empire? Getting to see Literal Nerrative stage production gone horribly real?! This is some amazing writing. I really like how the entire plot comes around full circle at the end of the In universe play and real book. The ending is heavily foreshadowed so you have some idea of what is going to happen and I like that. It’s the WHAT EXACTLY WILL happen that really sells this. Also apparently vampires are just a thing in the Empire and in some cases openly are known in society?! This must be older lore because it’s certainly not like the Warhammer world I know but that’s even more interesting!
