Welcome to Black Spring, the seemingly picturesque Hudson Valley town haunted by the Black Rock Witch, a seventeenth century woman whose eyes and mouth are sewn shut. Muzzled, she walks the streets and enters homes at will. She stands next to children's bed for nights on end. Everybody knows that her eyes may never be opened or the consequences will be too terrible to bear.

High up on the windswept cliffs of Pale Peak, Faye and Felix celebrate their new engagement. But soon, a chorus of ghastly noises erupts from the nearby woods: the screams of animals, the cries of children, and the mad babble of a hundred mournful voices. A dark figure looms near the windows in the dead of night, whispering to Faye. As the weather turns deadly, Felix discovers that his terrified fiancée isn't just mumbling in her sleep—she's whispering back.

Histoire
In a boarded-up house on a dead-end street at the edge of the wild Washington woods lives a family of three. A teenage girl who isn’t allowed outside, not after last time. A man who drinks alone in front of his TV, trying to ignore the gaps in his memory. And a house cat who loves napping and reading the Bible. An unspeakable secret binds them together, but when a new neighbor moves in next door, what is buried out among the birch trees may come back to haunt them all.

Surrounded by barren trees in a snow-covered wilderness with a dim, dusky sky forever overhead, Siberia’s Kolyma Highway is 1200 miles of gravel packed permafrost within driving distance of the Arctic Circle. A narrow path where drivers face such challenging conditions as icy surfaces, limited visibility, and an average temperature of 60 degrees below zero, fatal car accidents are common.

Description
Nature is calling - but they shouldn't have answered.
“A compulsive page-turner mixing supernatural survival horror and...pulp adventure” (Paul Tremblay, author of A Head Full of Ghosts and The Pallbearers' Club)
Travel journalist and mountaineer Nick Grevers awakes from a coma to find that his climbing buddy, Augustin, is missing and presumed dead. Nick’s own injuries are as extensive as they are horrifying. His face wrapped in bandages and unable to speak, Nick claims amnesia - but he remembers everything.
He remembers how he and Augustin were mysteriously drawn to the Maudit, a remote and scarcely documented peak in the Swiss Alps.
He remembers how the slopes of Maudit were eerily quiet, and how, when they entered its valley, they got the ominous sense that they were not alone.
He remembers: Something was waiting for them....
But it isn’t just the memory of the accident that haunts Nick. Something has awakened inside of him, something that endangers the lives of everyone around him....
It’s one thing to lose your life. It’s another to lose your soul.
From the international best-selling sensation Thomas Olde Heuvelt comes a thrilling descent into madness and obsession as one man confronts nature - and something even more ancient and evil answers back.

HEX was exceptionally engrossing... ECHO? hmmm
I read alot of other reviews to awe if I was going crazy. I still feel like maybe the jury is still out. I see people complain how lo g this book is. I dont see too many mentioning how repetitive and annoying it is. one guy jus recounts over and over all his vainglorious feeling he has for his hot bf... while the other talks about the mountain. the vernacular they use is super annoying (think like a pithy tumblr ad written by an influencer)...anyhow not fun not good

Disappointed
Loved hex. This story however was convoluted and made very little sense. The narrator also didn't help things as it was hard to follow. Absolutely not worth buying.
