Histoire
Alex Cross is a homicide detective with a PhD in psychology. He works and lives in the ghettos of D. C. and looks like Muhammad Ali in his prime. He's a tough guy from a tough part of town who wears Harris Tweed jackets and likes to relax by banging out Gershwin tunes on his baby grand piano. But he also has two adorable kids of his own, and they are his own special vulnerabilities. Jezzie Flanagan is the first woman ever to hold the highly sensitive job as supervisor of the Secret Service in Washington.

Histoire
Imagine a killer who thinks, "What is the worst thing anyone has ever done?"—and then goes far beyond it. Now imagine four women—a police detective, an assistant DA, a reporter, and a medical examiner—who join forces as they sidestep their bosses to track down criminals. Known as the Women's Murder Club, they are pursuing a murderer whose twisted imagination has stunned an entire city. Their chief suspect is a socially prominent writer, but the men in charge won't touch him. On the trail of the most terrifying and unexpected killer ever, they discover a shocking surprise.

Death is reporter Jack McEvoy's beat: his calling, his obsession. But this time, death brings McEvoy the story he never wanted to write - and the mystery he desperately needs to solve. A serial killer of unprecedented savagery and cunning is at large. His targets: homicide cops, each haunted by a murder case he couldn't crack. The killer's calling card: a quotation from the works of Edgar Allan Poe. His latest victim is McEvoy's own brother. And his last...may be McEvoy himself.

Story wasnt the best imo
I enjoyed the reading of the novel in it's entirety, I feel like the people involved really know how to paint a great picture in your head. The story itself I felt was a little lacking but this may be due in part to the excitement of London Bridges, which was a tough act to follow. I am grateful to be able to continue my journey with Alex Cross, Nana Mama, the kids and Samson as well as the other characters in this world. I look forward to the next installation which I am downloading ASAP.

What? Not read this yet??
Any Alex Cross is worth reading. I typically go for longer books. Trying to get my moneys worth. But.....I never turn down Alex Cross. most of James Patterson’s books are excellent.

great story
this was a good listen. it kept my interest most of the time but I found parts were a little long and repetitive. the ending came much too quickly and contradicted a good deal that had already been said. still it was a good book with twists and turns to keep your interest.

Despite all efforts, Alex gets pulled back into solving homicides.
Liked how Alex perseveres to get cases solved.
Sad that Mary was unable to be brought back from the horrors of her past.
Glad Alex delved further into Mary’s past to find Bell.
