Welcome to...

The Thursday Murder Club

In a peaceful retirement village, four unlikely friends meet weekly in the Jigsaw Room to discuss unsolved crimes; together, they call themselves the Thursday Murder Club.

When a local developer is found dead with a mysterious photograph left next to the body, the Thursday Murder Club suddenly find themselves in the middle of their first live case.

As the bodies begin to pile up, can our unorthodox but brilliant gang catch the killer, before it's too late?

What the critics say

“An amusing debut that finds gold in getting older.”—People

“If you like a good mystery but also want to laugh and go 'aw,' the Thursday Murder Club books by Richard Osman are definitely for you.”Daisy Rosario, NPR Pop Culture Happy Hour

“[A] jaunty mystery. . . What's delightful is that there are no stereotypes here—the senior citizens solve the murder with wit, style and ferocious intelligence. The puzzle is intricate and involving, but there's a breeziness about it that makes it an ideal hammock read.”NPR

One of the Best

An absolutely brilliant first novel, but honestly, no one else could have done the job that Lesley Manville does in narrating it. She makes each and every character come alive with their very own voice and mannerisms.
Highly recommended--can’t wait for the sequel, The Man Who Died Twice. Kudos, Richard Osman!

How much fun was this. Thoroughly enjoyable listen.

Oh gosh I want to meet them all. The weaving of loveable characters and stories are brilliant. The author notes at the end most enjoyable. Definitely will go to second one. The fun continues.

Fantastic!

Absolutely brilliant book, could not stop listening. So many twists and turns that threw me (in a fabulous way), keeping me guessing to the very end. I have already loaded the 2nd book and have to end here so I can start it!
Really enjoyed Leslie Manville as well, 5 stars!

realistic without being gory

Found it hard to get into at first - wasn’t a style I was used to but once I got a sense of the storytelling I loved it - multiple layers of storytelling that keeps you guessing - enjoyed the author interview at the end

Very Agatha Christie!

We need more novels like this to get us through the pandemic. It's a delightful read, has all the elements of a good whodunnit. Full of likeable and pleasant characters. I will highly recommend it.

a gentle thriller

lived and loved every minute! I think you have to enjoy British humor and a British style of writing to really love this kind of mystery. You surely won't guess the killer here, but you will grow to love the characters and to feel a part of the story. I especially enjoyed meeting the author in the interview at the end! Can't wait to start the next story!

Review of Thursday murder Club

It was overall a good listen. I must admit I found the readers voice a bit too soothing and fell asleep while listening.
