Description
Based on their workshops and counseling experience, psychologists Jane B. Burka and Lenora M. Yuen offer a probing, sensitive, and at times humorous look at a problem that affects everyone: students and scientists, secretaries and executives, homemakers and salespeople. Procrastination identifies the reasons we put off tasks - fears of failure, success, control, separation, and attachment - and their roots in our childhood and adult experiences.
The authors offer a practical, tested program to overcome procrastination by achieving set goals, managing time, enlisting support, and handling stress. Burka and Yuen even provide tips on living and working with the procrastinators you may know.
Wise, effective, and easy to use, this new edition shows why for 25 years Procrastination has been an immediate must-have for anyone who puts things off until tomorrow.

It's not you; it's your schedule. Does it sound like magic? It's not. We've all heard of circadian rhythms - those biological processes that give us jet lag and make us night owls or early birds. But few of us know just how profoundly these diurnal patterns affect our overall health. Bad habits - like skipping meals, squeezing in workouts, working late into the night and then trying to catch up on sleep during the weekend - disrupt our natural cycles. A growing body of research on chronobiology reveals just how sensitive the human body is to these rhythms all the way down to the genetic level.

There are 168 hours in a week. This book is about where the time really goes, and how we can all use it better. It's an unquestioned truth of modern life: we are starved for time. With the rise of two-income families, extreme jobs, and 24/7 connectivity, life is so frenzied we can barely find time to breathe. We tell ourselves we'd like to read more, get to the gym regularly, try new hobbies, and accomplish all kinds of goals.

A tender, powerful, and achievable path to the everyday resiliency we all need to navigate the uncertainty in our lives. An inspiring new voice in resiliency, Dr. Robyne Hanley-Dafoe believes that our modern conception of resiliency as “fighting” or being “tougher” is misguided. Learning happens when we are able to trust and feel safe; fear and shame are barriers, not facilitators, for authentic growth, acceptance, and change. Dr. Robyne maps out a kinder approach to taking on the challenges of life and developing authentic self-alignment and balance.

The latest groundbreaking tome from Tim Ferriss, the number-one New York Times best-selling author of The 4-Hour Workweek. For the last two years, I've interviewed more than 200 world-class performers for my podcast, The Tim Ferriss Show. The guests range from super celebs (Jamie Foxx, Arnold Schwarzenegger, etc.) and athletes (icons of powerlifting, gymnastics, surfing, etc.) to legendary Special Operations commanders and black-market biochemists. For most of my guests, it’s the first time they’ve agreed to a two-to-three-hour interview.

Fantastic self-help book, I highly recommend it
Well researched, clearly stated, great stuff, buuuut... the narrator, she gives off a bit of a patronizing tone sometimes, it's a little annoying. It's as if she's reading to a room of five year olds.
Still, it's a great ressource to overcoming a roadblock in life. It's well researched and the results ground themselves in psychotherapy theory such as CBT and schema therapy. However, there's a long preface to explain the phenomenon of procrastination. It's really interesting, but my gripe with it is that you end up with only one third of the book left for practical tips to break malaptive patterns.
It's possible that, witht the nature of the book, you'll procrastinate reading it or avoid doing the abstract exercises. If that sounds like you, I highly recommend a paperback of "Self Esteem" by Matthew Mckay & Patrick Fanning.
If you're interested in this book, I'll also recommend "Feeling Good" by David D Burns and "Reinventing Your Life" by Jeffrey E Young. Cheesy titles, but you'll find in them wonderful tools to get back on track and lead a wholesome life. Good luck!

These Authors Were There When "IT" was Discovered
You are forgiven your past .. it wasn't your fault .. but now you need to get on with it [whatever "IT" is for you].
A lot of authors have a lot of opinions about stopping procrastination .. but often it is just their idiosyncratic take on the topic. Or worse it is a non-procrastinator talking down to the poor hopeless wretches who are.
This book is an update to the book written 25 years ago. Procrastination was still called "tardiness" and "laziness" and any number of other derogatory names. Two and a half decades of study, theorizing, testing and determining all the types. causes. treatments and inplications. What exercises work and which don't and for who. This surely, is the ultimate guide on the topic. Few have studied it longer.
But it is still warm and human and dosed in the authors personalities and quirks. In the audible version [at 2x or 3x] it is like they are talking to you .. right in your ear, coaching, guiding forgiving. At the speed of Audible, for those of us easily distracted .. it can hold our minds long enough for it all to sink in and make sense.
If you can't sort out what is keeping you from what you want and what to do about it from this book .. I doubt you will read/ listen to anything else that will.
