Although clinical research has been conducted on narcissism as a disorder, less is known about its effects on victims who are in toxic relationships with partners with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Individuals with this disorder engage in chronic devaluation and manipulation of their partners, a psychological and emotional phenomenon known as "narcissistic abuse". Unfortunately, the full extent of what narcissistic abuse entails is not taught in any psychology class or diagnostic manual.

Pathological mind games. Covert and overt put-downs. Triangulation. Gaslighting. Projection. These are the manipulative tactics survivors of malignant narcissists are unfortunately all too familiar with. As victims of silent crimes where the perpetrators are rarely held accountable, survivors of narcissistic abuse have lived in a war zone of epic proportions, enduring an abuse cycle of love-bombing and devaluation - psychological violence on steroids.

It’s not always easy to tell when you’re dealing with a narcissist. Coupling stories of abused women and abusive men from her own case studies, Patricia Evans here gives you the tools you need to transform your relationship. Most important, she assures you that such a transformation is possible—given the right circumstances. Evans also helps you determine if your abuser really has changed—or if he’s merely creating the illusion of change. And if he hasn’t changed, Evans helps you decide whether it’s time to leave the relationship—and what to do when it is.

Within every community, toxic people can be found hiding in families, couples, companies, and places of worship. The cryptic nature of psychological abuse involves repetitious mind games played by one individual or a group of people. Psychological abuse leaves no bruises. There are no broken bones. There are no holes in the walls. The bruises, brokenness, and holes are held tightly within the target of the abuse.

The causes of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder range from severe neglect to monstrous abuse. Many survivors grew up in houses that were not homes-in families that were as loveless as orphanages and sometimes as dangerous. If you felt unwanted, unliked, rejected, hated, and/or despised for a lengthy portion of your childhood, trauma may be deeply engrained in your mind, soul, and body. This book is a practical guide to recovering from lingering childhood trauma. It is copiously illustrated with examples of the author's and his clients' journeys of recovering.

"THE" BOOK about any kind of abuse
There may be many books out there that tackle abuse and/or domestic violence. This one, although written by a (very insightful) man, shows you truths (while explaining root causes) that you can never unsee. Abuse does not have to be physical; it takes many forms, and it is all explained here. Many women keep going back to their abusive partner, only to find things taking a turn for the worse every time, Read this one, and you will never go back. This book has saved the lives of many women and children and I believe is Mr. Bancroft's most known and best-selling book so far. After this, I recommend that you read the "Daily Wisdom..." by the same author, which serves as a voice of reason that you fall back on at any time, on any day.

Very thorough and complete analysis of DV
This book is fantastic as an in-depth analysis of why abusers abuse, how to identify them, how to read them, how to respond to them, and how to support victims. as a DV survivor I could relate to so much of the content and really appreciated the validation and insight the book provided. Th author's views on how to know if the abuser is genuinely changed were remarkably well written and insightful, and would be very beneficial for anyone wondering about validity of change. This book covers the content from every aspect and is a must-read for anyone who is a victim or trying to support a victim, or to understand abusers in general. I am so glad I read this book!

Must read for everyone who want to have a healthy relationship
This book shows how your relationship might hurt you, mentally or physically, how healthy relationship should feel, and how to see your relationship for what it is and don’t allow anyone to manipulate you for their gains. Even though the big focus of this book is physical abuse, it offers information what to look for if your partner never pushed you or call names. Abuse comes in different forms.
