Publisher's Summary

From the award-winning master of sci-fi Adrian Tchaikovsky, Children of Memory is the unmissable follow-up space opera to the highly acclaimed Children of Time and Children of Ruin.

When Earth failed, it sent out arkships to establish new outposts. So the spaceship Enkidu and its captain, Heorest Holt, carried its precious human cargo to a potential new paradise. Generations later, this fragile colony has managed to survive on Imir, eking out a hardy existence. Yet life is tough, and much technological knowledge has been lost.

Then strangers appear, on a world where everyone knows their neighbour. They possess unparalleled knowledge and thrilling new technology – for they have come from the stars, to help humanity’s lost colonies. But not all is as it seems on Imir.

As the visitors lose track of time and memories, they discover the colonists fear unknown enemies and Imir’s own murky history. Neighbour turns against neighbour, as society fractures in the face of this terrifying foe. Perhaps some other intelligence is at work, toying with colonists and space-faring scientists alike? But not all questions are so easily answered – and the price may be the colony itself . . .

Children of Memory by Arthur C. Clarke Award-winning author Adrian Tchaikovsky is a far-reaching space opera spanning generations, species and galaxies.

out of the box

One of the best Syfy book series, Loved all of them. The author has very original ideas, everything is well interlaced and makes the whole story very captivating.

We’re going on an Adventure as always

I have listened to hundreds of sci fi books. There is no one quite as good as this Author at putting you inside the mind of the Alien.

an amazing deep down two places you didn't imagine

starts off as an interesting and compelling science fiction story and ends tackling concepts deeper and far more imaginative than you would have expected

Super story. Tchaikovsky always leaves you wanting more. Mel Hudson’s performance is fantastic, as usual.

The author manages to blow my mind with every instalment of this series. Now to wait a couple years for book 4 with baited breath!

Incredible end to a wonderful trilogy

The entire trilogy has been incredible. I started listening to Children of Time on Sept. 5th and finished this one today (Sept. 28th). The narration was fantastic, each character felt distinct and memorable. The story in each book has been so different and individual but the throughlines are so captivating that it remains one cohesive universe.

I cannot recommend this series enough and the audio version is a perfect way to enjoy it.

Children of Memory, wild ride

More so than the other two books in this trilogy have I ever been so confused, but also enraptured by the complexities of this story. Different enough from the other two novels to not be expected. But also similar enough to fit right in. If you loved the first two books, you’ll love this one as well. The ending is a wild ride.

Good, but an unsatisfying delivery

I feel like the structuring of the story really did a disservice to it this time. The back and forth narrative that did so well in the previous books does make sense in retrospect, but I spent most of the book up until the end just lost to the plot. I really just found myself wanting more of the birds story, rather than the lecture on simulation theory I got in the end.
