Publisher's Summary

Best-selling author James Patterson and award-winning sportswriter Mike Lupica team up to launch this power-family football thriller, a pre-game for their next blockbuster, The House of Wolves.

Meet the Wolf. Joe Wolf. He’s the head of a multibillion-dollar empire—a newspaper, a holding company, a football team—and the head of a family that puts King Lear to shame.

His empire shows signs of crumbling when he’s approached with an “offer” to sell. It’s clear from the start that Joe is going to pay the ultimate price—and maybe more—if he refuses.

NFL TEASER

Teaser if you are a NFL fan you will be hooked, anticipating the next book. however, much like his Alex Cross stories I'm afraid they decided to throw together a storyline just to satisfy their editors to make money. Too bad, they used to be great authors, now they've lost their imagination.

Didn’t finish

This couldn’t capture my attention enough to finish. Story is predictable and I was not enjoying the narration either.

What was your that

The premise and set up were so past stupid. I’m not very familiar with Patterson but expected something a lot more intriguing with his name attached. Good thing it was free, if only I could get my time back.

disappointing

1 this is just a teaser for a full novel
2 hope they got paid well for the blatant product placement for Grey goose and tesla
3 would not recommend this or based on this part of the real book will not be getting the book

Awful

Worst book I’ve ever listened to. Far too many cliches. Bad writing. Don’t listen to it.

Clickbait for fiction

I despise the practice of sucking an audience in for the sole purpose of trying to sell upcoming books.

This bit of deception has ensured I will never get another Patterson work. Putting up with a tedious stretch of prose, always expecting a a shift to the highly reputed storytelling, to be met in the end with a "fooled yah, find out when you buy the next book" is abuse I will not abide. Maybe if it was a compelling story, or contained some outstanding writing. But this effort is at best pedestrian. Only cultish followers can see it as anything more than a lazy effort to bring in the marks.

If I could give 0 stars for the story I would.

Really was a waste of time. Tried to be so mysterious and withholding, really just was annoying.

Pretend a prologue is a free book? Cheap trick.

If this was a small company I'd 'understand' and get the rest of the book.

Incomplete scam

About the time you might start getting into it the story stops and you have to buy the next one. Fool me once, shame on you.
