Publisher's Summary

Actor, singer...necromancer?

All the world's a stage...even when you're teleported to a new world.

Struggling actress Cara O'Sullivan was walking down the street of Galway one moment, and the next, she was in an ancient tomb in a faraway world. Alone in the dark with her cell phone as her last tenuous connection to home, Cara sings her favorite song. To her astonishment, her song casts a spell of light into the world...and from the depths, something hears her. Challenged by a ghostly knight, a tragic necromancer, and hordes of undead, can a young woman who does not believe in heroes become one herself?

Really enjoyed this audiobook!

Another hit with andrea parsneau as narrator and writing from pirateaba. I am caught up on The Wandering Inn series and enjoyed getting to listen to this gem, that is both stand-alone for those not following TWI and also ties into the Inn-verse. I was worried I wouldn't like it as Cara isn't my favourite person in TWI, but reading this gives me more perspective on her and more understanding, and I grew to like her a lot by the end. I enjoyed seeing how singing evolved for her in this world to meet her needs. I read it too quickly though and now I will have to wait until book 2 of the series!

i was told i was going to hate it, but loved it.

Got told going in this was nothing like the wandering inn and Cara was the worst but I got to disagree.

She has her ugh moments like ALL characters do but i felt she was a strong character and it's nice to see a different part of this world pirateaba made.

Performance was amazing as always, the last 20 minutes of chapter 15 had no right making me fight the tears back as much as I did. I don't know if people would of felt the same reading it vs the way it was performed.

A wonderful addition to the world we all love

Before I dove in I was a bit worried the singing would overwhelm the story but happy to say what little singing there was is firstly beautifully sung and secondly served it's purpose for the moment. The story is very compelling with several characters you grow to love. The narration and singing by Andrea is without question some of her finest work. pirateaba took a chance with this slight tweak of a Litrpg audio book and it worked out nicely. I was entertained from the start to the far too quick 20 hour end and you will too. I felt all the High's and Lows this story weaves, never have I rooted for Heroes more. This is the Wandering Inn world with several familiar names, places and events you know well craftily injected into the story. Patiently Eager for Book 2, no idea what pirateaba will come up with next but you can be sure it will consume you. Thanks Andrea and pirateaba.

A couple nitpicks

Overall pretty good. I like that the writer provided the ghost in the beginning to keep us interested. In Azarinth Healer the main character is all alone and that got pretty boring due to a lack of interaction.

The mechanics in this story are quite good and really enticing. The zombie thing was pretty interesting and worked into the plot really well.

The main character is Irish and there's just a few things I think might have made a tad more sense:

* More Irish traditional song/dance and less pop references (I'm not Irish so it's also possible I don't recognize more traditional stuff).
* When arguing about monarchy vs democracy, I think Kara should have referenced events in Irish history. It seems to me Irish people in-general are pretty unhappy with the British monarchy, and thus Kara could have mentioned the Irish War of Independence even if in a roundabout manner. And how monarchy has personally effected her or her family. High taxes for instance which the story hints at a few times. iirc, Ireland was only able to grow potatoes while suffering from high taxes and other crazy rules forced on them because they wouldn't do as the monarchy said. Ireland also likely argued that the monarchy was not making choices that benefited Ireland. Democracy creates extra spending money. I feel like someone fresh out of high school would have a lot of these examples in the back of their mind even if drunk.

* Iphones are not very popular in Europe. I would presume it more likely for the mc to have an android phone, I think.

Amazing!

Pirateaba paints a beautiful word. A little slice of life with action and death. A pretty light litrpg but definitely present, no 10min of listening to stat updates. It feels closer to a classic fantasy then a real litrpg but a perfect balance none the less.

Wandering Inn World

I came here to fall in love with another character from this world and if im honest at first and throught Karas growth I found it hard to like her but the story has lots of other wonderful characters so i kept listening cause i want to know all Inn World, but by the last chapter i found myself sobing as you realize why the main character bugs you or why you scream at them for a choice, but its because theyre so like you.. your true self.. who can be the hardest to trust and love. Cant wait for the rest of her journey

love the world loving getting to know just a little of Noectlus compared to liscor, I still don't like Kara

Cannot stand her taking a stand at monarchy inequality in a new world whereas she is a stranger, she has no idea how anything works or the rules just a basic kids knowledge of the world and she thinks she knows what's best for everyone, she could chill out and ask how things work before insulting everyone's beliefs, she spends what's like week in a small town and she's an expert on the kingdom.
