Publisher's Summary
Keep your brain young, healthy, and sharp with this science-driven guide to protecting your mind from decline by neurosurgeon and CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta.
Throughout our life, we look for ways to keep our minds sharp and effortlessly productive. Now, globetrotting neurosurgeon Dr. Sanjay Gupta offers “the book all of us need, young and old” (Walter Isaacson, number-one New York Times best-selling author of The Code Breaker) with insights from top scientists all over the world, whose cutting-edge research can help you heighten and protect brain function and maintain cognitive health at any age.
Keep Sharp debunks common myths about aging and mental decline, explores whether there’s a “best” diet or exercise regimen for the brain, and explains whether it’s healthier to play video games that test memory and processing speed, or to engage in more social interaction. Discover what we can learn from “super-brained” people who are in their '80s and '90s with no signs of slowing down - and whether there are truly any benefits to drugs, supplements, and vitamins. Dr. Gupta also addresses brain disease, particularly Alzheimer’s, answers all your questions about the signs and symptoms, and shows how to ward against it and stay healthy while caring for a partner in cognitive decline. He likewise provides you with a personalized 12-week program featuring practical strategies to strengthen your brain every day.
Keep Sharp is the “must-read owner’s manual” (Arianna Huffington) you’ll need to keep your brain young and healthy regardless of your age!

Very Thorough and Very Interesting
I recommend this book to anyone. Dr. Gupta makes the latest ( as of this publication date) information understandable, relatable and the information/ suggestions are very practical. He digs deeper into information to provide background schema which helps to build our capacity for understanding, yet it was still understandable to those of us not in this field of study. It was a pleasure to hear Dr Gupta’s voice as a narrator. He spoke clearly, at a moderate and therefore very appropriate pace. I always listen to Audible Books as I walk and so it felt as if I were walking with a very smart, yet humble friend who is an expert in his field. Although I live in Canada his advice was very relatable in terms of sources for support and overall information. I appreciated the studies that he cited. I wish that we could convince very wealthy people to partner with governments for villages as he described about the village in the the Netherlands. I really feel that this was well worth my time and money. It will be one that I listen to from start to finish again in the upcoming months and beyond. Thank you Dr Gupta and all who made this book possible.

Read This Book. Improve Your Brain Health.
"Keep Sharp: Build a Better Brain at Any Age" by Sanjay Gupta is a comprehensive and accessible guide to maintaining brain health and preventing cognitive decline. Gupta, a neurosurgeon and CNN's chief medical correspondent, draws on the latest research in neuroscience and psychology to offer practical advice on how to keep your brain healthy throughout your life.
The book is organized into chapters that cover a range of topics, from the basics of brain function to strategies for improving memory and concentration. Gupta provides clear explanations of complex concepts, using real-life examples and anecdotes to make the science feel accessible and relevant.
One of the strengths of the book is Gupta's emphasis on the importance of a holistic approach to brain health. He stresses the role of diet, exercise, and sleep in maintaining cognitive function, and offers practical advice on how to make lifestyle changes that can benefit your brain.
Another strength of the book is Gupta's use of case studies to illustrate the impact of cognitive decline on individuals and their families. He also provides information on the latest research into treatments for conditions like Alzheimer's disease, and discusses the potential of emerging technologies like brain-computer interfaces to improve brain function.
Overall, "Keep Sharp" is an informative and engaging guide to brain health. While some of the advice may be familiar to readers who have already studied the topic, the book provides a comprehensive overview of the latest research and offers practical advice that can benefit anyone looking to maintain cognitive function and improve brain health.
