From the glamorous San Francisco social scene of the 1920s, through war and the social changes of the ’60s, to the rise of Silicon Valley today, this extraordinary novel takes us on a family odyssey that is both heartbreaking and inspiring, as each generation faces the challenges of their day. The Parisian design houses in 1928, the crash of 1929, the losses of war, the drug culture of the 1960s - history holds many surprises, and lives are changed forever.

Theodora Morgan is fashion royalty. Founder of a wildly popular online shopping service, she is one of the most successful businesswomen in the world, although she prefers to keep a low profile, especially over the last months. It was a year ago when the unthinkable struck her family: Her husband, industry mogul Matthieu Pasquier, and their son were kidnapped and held for ransom—a nightmare that ended in tragedy. The case has gone cold, despite evidence linking the crime to Matthieu's Russian competitors.

Description
What might have been? That tantalizing question propels a woman on a cross-country adventure to reunite with the men she loved and let go, in Danielle Steel's exhilarating new novel.
It all starts with a fall from a ladder in a firehouse in New York City. The firehouse has been converted into a unique Manhattan home and studio where renowned photographer Madison Allen works and lives after raising three children on her own. But the accident, which happens while Maddie is sorting through long-forgotten personal mementos and photos, results in more than a broken ankle. It changes her life.
Spurred by old memories, the forced pause in her demanding schedule, and an argument with her daughter that leads to a rare crisis of confidence, Maddie embarks on a road trip. She hopes to answer questions about the men she loved and might have married - but didn't - in the years after she was left alone with three young children. Wearing a cast and driving a rented SUV, she sets off to reconnect with three very different men - one in Boston, one in Chicago, and another in Wyoming - to know once and for all if the decisions she made long ago were the right ones.
Before moving forward into the future, she is compelled to confront the past. As the miles and days pass, and with each new encounter, Maddie's life comes into clearer focus, and a new future takes shape.
A deeply felt story about love, motherhood, family, and fate, Lost and Found is an irresistible new novel from America's most dynamic storyteller.

Bland predictable writing
I'm not sure the author puts much thought into sentence structure. She does not put variation into it.
The storyline was predictable in the short term, medium term, and long term. Consistent at that.
Her demonstration of foreshadowing was at the level of elementary students. He worried about ______, he mentioned the risks of violence in _______, He asked her once again if she would reconsider the trip ______.
Good verbs are far more effective than good adverbs in front of a mediocre verb.

Not my typical style but good
I liked the storyline. I had difficulty with how it was read. It seemed so mechanical considering this was her life. I would have felt more connected if it was a woman’s voice of Maddie’s age. I would have loved to have seen this in a movie.

Lost and Found
I’ve read many Danielle Steel books and for the first time ever, after the first three chapters or so, I was thinking of giving it up. However the plot picked up and I totally enjoyed this read. I love reading about strong women and Maddie is definitely one. Quick ending to the adventure though would’ve enjoyed a bit longer of a book.

Badly written, beyond cliched and quite boring
This was my first and last Danielle Steel novel. I have been reading the romance genre during COVID as a way to decompress and enjoy some light-hearted entertainment. This title came up as a daily deal so I thought I'd listen.
It was such a poorly told story that I found myself rolling my eyes. So much repetitive language and plot retelling. Just really bad. I don't recommend this at all. Try Nora Roberts for better storytelling and characters you will actually care about.

It is so boring that I could not finish it
I have read many Danielle Steel novels and loved them them all, until now.
This book is terrible! It should have been a novella. It is so repetitive that it is both annoying and boring.
