Publisher's Summary
One would hardly call them birds of a feather, but thrill-seeking American adventuress Beryl Helliwell and quietly reserved Brit Edwina Davenport do one thing very well together - solve murders.
Sharing lodging in the sleepy English village of Walmsley Parva has eased some of the financial strain on the two old school chums, but money is still tight in these lean years following the Great War. All of Beryl's ex-husbands have proven reluctant to part with her alimony, which is most inconvenient. So when the local vicar - and pigeon-racing club president - approaches them with a private inquiry opportunity, the ladies eagerly accept. There's been a spot of bother: The treasurer has absconded with the club's funds and several prized birds. Beryl and Edwina hope to flush out the missing man by checking his boardinghouse and place of employment at the coal mine.
But when they visit the man's loft, they find their elusive quarry lying in white feathers and a pool of crimson blood, stabbed to death - the only witnesses cooing mournfully. After a stiff gin fizz, the ladies resume their search for the missing funds and prized birds - and now a murderer. Beryl and Edwina aren't shy about ruffling a few feathers as they home in on their suspects. But they had better find the killer fast, before their sleuthing career is cut short.

Better with Time
This is the second book of Jessica Ellicott that I have read, and I have to say that I appreciate her writing much better now. I didn't leave the greatest review for her first book, but with time I have seen that she writes a good story, which I have enjoyed, and will probably read more of her books. I like the narrator much better this time around- same woman. I quite like her deep voice. I recommend this for very decent, clean cozy mystery! And the first book in the series

Rivals Father Brown!
I am really beginning to feel attached to these characters. Is there romance ahead for Edwina?

Entertaining Cozy Mystery
A thoroughly cozy mystery.
I love the inner thoughts of the two main characters.
The mystery was well thought out. The characters well developed.
Although the mystery was fully solved at the end, there were a few dangling threads that I would have liked to have been resolved. This is why the story was given a 4 instead of a 5.
I hope more books of Wharmsley Parva are written and produced.
The portrayal of the characters was enjoyable. Even though the narrator could sometimes be heard swallowing, I would happily listen to her work in the future.

2 nd book in wonderful series
Fun and engaging story. I love the friendship between Edwina and Beryl and their new venture as sleuths in 1920 England. The time period is an important part of the series set in post world war one.

Take a rest from the heavy
This second adventure of Beryl and Edwina is great fun. I will most definitely persist with the rest of the series whenever I want a light and entertaining read.
