Story
Most organizations and individuals work in the context of annual goals and plans; a 12-month execution cycle. Instead, The 12 Week Year avoids the pitfalls and low productivity of annualized thinking. This book redefines your "year" to be 12 weeks long. In 12 weeks, there just isn't enough time to get complacent, and urgency increases and intensifies. The 12 Week Year creates focus and clarity on what matters most and a sense of urgency to do it now. In the end more of the important stuff gets done and the impact on results is profound.

Story
Power is one of the most misunderstood - and therefore vilified - concepts in our society. Many assume power is predetermined by personality or wealth, or that it’s gained by strong-arming others. You might even write it off as “dirty” and want nothing to do with it. But by staying away from power, you give it up to someone else who may not have your best interest in mind. We must understand and use our power to have impact, and pioneering researchers Julie Battilana and Tiziana Casciaro provide the playbook for doing so in Power, for All.

Publisher's Summary
You'll never see leadership the same way again after reading this book.
These 15 commitments are a distillation of decades of work with CEOs and other leaders. They are radical or provocative for many. They have been game changers for us and for our clients. We trust they will be for you, too.
Our experience is that unconscious leadership is not sustainable. It won't work for you, your team, or your organization in the long term. Unconscious leadership can deliver short-term results, but the costs of living and leading unconsciously are great.
Fear drives most leaders to make choices that are at odds with healthy relationships, vitality, and balance. This fear leaves a toxic residue that won't be as easily tolerated in an increasingly complex business environment.
Conscious leadership offers the antidote to fear. These pages contain a comprehensive road map to guide you to shift from fear-based to trust-based leadership. Once you learn and start practicing conscious leadership, you'll get results in the form of more energy, clarity, focus, and healthier relationships. You'll do more and more of what you are passionate about and less of what you do out of obligation. Your team will get results as well. Drama and gossip will all but disappear, and the energy and resources that fueled them will be redirected towardsinnovation and creativity.
Any one of these commitments will change your life. All of them together are revolutionary.
What do you need to bring to the table?
Be curious.
Sounds so simple, yet in our experience it's a skill few have mastered. Most of us are far more interested in being right and proving it than we are in learning, growing, and shifting out of our old patterns. By default we gravitate toward the familiar. We're asking you to take a chance and explore the unfamiliar.

This is an outstanding leadership (human) development book. I found myself captivated by Jim’s reading and listening to each of the chapters twice. The content provided so many aha-moments for me and made me curious for more while also being so accessible and digestible. I also appreciated the original references and additional readings included throughout. Standing Ovation!

Then you ever would reading 1000 books once…
This book is that book for me. If you truly practice the commitments in this book.
Instilling them into your very being, You will have transformed into someone can walk through the world, able to take on anyone, anytime at any place.
I’ve listened to this 10 times now and have only started to nail down the first 3.
