Publisher's Summary
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • THE BLOCKBUSTER JACK REACHER SERIES THAT INSPIRED TWO MAJOR MOTION PICTURES AND THE STREAMING SERIES REACHER
Jack Reacher is back! The “utterly addictive” (The New York Times) series continues as acclaimed author Lee Child teams up with his brother, Andrew Child, fellow thriller writer extraordinaire.
“One of the many great things about Jack Reacher is that he’s larger than life while remaining relatable and believable. The Sentinel shows that two Childs are even better than one.”—James Patterson
As always, Reacher has no particular place to go, and all the time in the world to get there. One morning he ends up in a town near Pleasantville, Tennessee.
But there’s nothing pleasant about the place.
In broad daylight Reacher spots a hapless soul walking into an ambush. “It was four against one” . . . so Reacher intervenes, with his own trademark brand of conflict resolution.
The man he saves is Rusty Rutherford, an unassuming IT manager, recently fired after a cyberattack locked up the town’s data, records, information . . . and secrets. Rutherford wants to stay put, look innocent, and clear his name.
Reacher is intrigued. There’s more to the story. The bad guys who jumped Rutherford are part of something serious and deadly, involving a conspiracy, a cover-up, and murder—all centered on a mousy little guy in a coffee-stained shirt who has no idea what he’s up against.
Rule one: if you don’t know the trouble you’re in, keep Reacher by your side.

Two lonely towns in Colorado: Hope and Despair. Between them, 12 miles of empty road. Jack Reacher never turns back. It's not in his nature. All he wants is a cup of coffee. What he gets is big trouble. So in Lee Child’s electrifying new novel, Reacher - a man with no fear, no illusions, and nothing to lose - goes to war against a town that not only wants him gone, it wants him dead. It wasn’t the welcome Reacher expected. He was just passing through, minding his own business. But within minutes of his arrival a deputy is in the hospital and Reacher is back in Hope.

What the critics say
“It’s great to be back in [Reacher’s] company in a world where the bad guys get what’s coming to them. . . . A smooth transition for a much-loved character.”—The Observer
“As always, the bad guys—this time, Russian spies and American-Nazi thugs—discover too late that they are no match for Reacher. Despite the change in authors, the writing remains tight and the non-stop action is as propulsive as ever.”—Associated Press
“It’s terrific. . . . The story is just as powerful. . . . Brutal action mixes with keen-eyed detective work as Reacher metes out his own brand of justice. . . . If this novel is a harbinger of what’s to come, then Jack is in good hands.”—Booklist (starred review)

Format is getting old
Scott Brick is excellent as always, but the storyline & plot is getting stale and old. Not a surprise being so many books in. There is only so many times a person can ‘stumble’ across something, investigate, add some muscle & then save the day.

Ignore any negative reviews - Book is Great
I have every Reacher novel and have listened to each at least 3 times over many many years. This book is great, The narration is very well done. Not Dick Hill but so what. The story is really well done and fast paced and interesting. Reacher is Reacher and he's in top form here. I almost wasn't going to buy the book based upon some of the reviews. In the end I couldn't think of any Reacher book that I would have wanted to pass on. I mean how bad does a Reacher book have to be to be worth not listening to? All of them were superb. The same goes for this book.

Simple story line and a bit brining.
Really not a fantastic read/listen at all. A somewhat interesting story with a classic Russian bad guy underlying story line. Nothing all that unexpected or surprising. Good narration however.

Satisfying.
I loved this story. I didn't hate any of it. It kept me wondering but interested. I will not be taking his descriptions of fights as suggestions for myself, though. That would not end well!

Good story!
Classic Reacher. Always willing to hang around if a few faces need hitting. In this era of stuxnet and pegasus not sure if Reacher will pony up or drop out. Reacher needs a sidekick.

Meh! Not the best Reacher Book
I have read and or listened to most of the Reacher series. When a new one emerges, I'm there, ready and willing to part with my money. This time I wish I hadn't bothered. I can't recall any of the previous Reacher novels having an overt political bent to them, but this one does. Antifa, Russians, voting machines and fraud. Murder and mayhem for sure, but the old tropes are back. This book has been done before. Spoiler Alert: Our friend, Jack, finds himself trapped in an underground bunker with no way out, Sound familiar? Well it is, but what's worse, the writing is not "Child" worthy. Much of the story is expository and very little evocation in the action or the descriptive text. Even Reacher's dialogue is a bit over the top. Sorry folks, this one is a good one to skip. Sadly Mr. Lee Child has abandoned Reacher and left him in the hands of one less qualified. As for the narrator, I like Scott Brick, but this time his voice got on my tits. It was hard to differentiate between the characters which had me wondering who was talking.

Very current topic
I am a huge Reacher fan so i will read anything with Reacher in it.
That being said, this was not the best work from Lee Child, but it it still did keep me guessing as to where the story was going to go.
Note: i listened to it twice

Scott Brick isn’t the guy for this.
Too much over annunciating makes him sound very effeminate which doesn’t fit with Jack Reacher stories. Over-acting??? It’s like when they picked Tom Cruz to do the movie?? 6’-5”/250? Cmon. A few bad choices made here.

A very entertaining book with lots of action and a bit funny in parts.
Reacher is a little different now that Andrew Child is writing , but why not?
It was pure entertainment and helped to keep Covid off my mind. For a few hours during the Christmas holiday.

Slightly disappointed
I am a huge Jack Reacher fan, but this book just didn’t have the same Reacher feel to it. It took me a while to get through. Also didn’t really care for the narrator.
