Wrong pacing

This is a fairly interesting idea, and you can tell this author is good at the craft, but the entire first act is rushed and weird. This would be otherwise be a solid story.

great narrator, boring characters

I think I'm too old for this one. Normally I love YA books and their romance/coming of age is pretty awesome. but I'm not feeling it here.
