Publisher's Summary

Jack Ryan, Jr. is the one man who can prevent a second Korean War in the latest thrilling entry in the number one New York Times best-selling series.

When the leader of North Korea is catastrophically injured, his incapacitation inadvertently triggers a “dead-man’s switch”, activating an army of sleeper agents in South Korea and precipitating a struggle for succession.

Jack Ryan, Jr. is in Seoul to interview a potential addition to the Campus. But his benign trip takes a deadly turn when a wave of violence perpetrated by North Korean operatives grips South Korea’s capital. A mysterious voice from North Korea offers Jack a way to stop the peninsula’s rush to war, but her price may be more than he can afford to pay.

Another exciting Jack Ryan adventure

Once again Jack Ryan falls into an amazing adventure while on a rather mundane assignment. Love the details added to the story that are factually correct and time relevant.

Good story and great performance

I'm a fan of Jack Ryan Jr's character. And Don Bentley did a good job in this book with the continuation of the character development. I also liked the story despite having a lot of military language and technical details. As always, Scott Brick did a great job bringing the story to life. I'm accustomed to a slower beginning of Tom Clancy's novels, but this one has a good place from the very beginning. Once I started, I kept listening for as long as I could.

Good narration

I enjoy listening to audiobooks while driving and the Jack Ryan series fit the bill.

Good story

Scott B needs to pronounce "primer" not as primmer. Otherwise very good performance on balance

Not a great story

If you want to know how helicopters work, how guns work, and everything else technical in a war situation, then the story is for you. Otherwise there is not much story. But the narration is amazing!

Slowest foot chase. Ever. 😴

Chapter 24 and Jack is still stuck in the same city, same traffic, same issues as Chapter 1. I can nap safely without missing any details.
No character development. Busily chasing progressive McGuggins without avail.

Hero Americans saving the free world could be so much more. Just not here.
