Story
In a sleepy seaside town in Maine, recently widowed Eveleth "Evvie" Drake rarely leaves her large, painfully empty house nearly a year after her husband’s death in a car crash. Everyone in town, even her best friend, Andy, thinks grief keeps her locked inside, and Evvie doesn’t correct them. Meanwhile, in New York City, Dean Tenney, former Major League pitcher and Andy’s childhood best friend, is wrestling with what miserable athletes living out their worst nightmares call the "yips": he can’t throw straight anymore, and, even worse, he can’t figure out why.

Story
Cat Winthorpe has worked hard to get what she has: a gorgeous home; social standing; and William, her successful, handsome husband. Then a friendly new couple moves into the estate next door. While cautious, a good neighbor like Cat greets them with open arms and warm hospitality. Neena Ryder isn’t a fellow lady of leisure. A life coach with off-the-rack dresses, personal issues, and a husband who hasn’t delivered, she’s anxious to move up in the world. This beautiful new town is a step in the right direction. It’s also making Neena aware of what she doesn’t have.

Story
Harriet and Wyn have been the perfect couple since they met in college—they go together like salt and pepper, honey and tea, lobster and rolls. Except, now—for reasons they’re still not discussing—they don’t. They broke up five months ago. And still haven’t told their best friends. Which is how they find themselves sharing a bedroom at the Maine cottage that has been their friend group’s yearly getaway for the last decade.

Nora Stephens' life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. Which is why she agrees to go to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina, for the month of August when Libby begs her for a sisters’ trip away.

Publisher's Summary
A New York Times best seller.
A Good Morning America, FabFitFun, and Marie Claire Book Club pick
“In Five Years is as clever as it is moving, the rare read-in-one-sitting novel you won’t forget.” (Chloe Benjamin, New York Times best-selling author of The Immortalists)
Perfect for fans of Me Before You and One Day - a striking, powerful, and moving love story following an ambitious lawyer who experiences an astonishing vision that could change her life forever.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Dannie Kohan lives her life by the numbers. She is nothing like her lifelong best friend - the wild, whimsical, believes-in-fate Bella. Her meticulous planning seems to have paid off after she nails the most important job interview of her career and accepts her boyfriend’s marriage proposal in one fell swoop, falling asleep completely content.
But when she awakens, she’s suddenly in a different apartment, with a different ring on her finger, and beside a very different man. Dannie spends one hour exactly five years in the future before she wakes again in her own home on the brink of midnight - but it is one hour she cannot shake.
In Five Years is an unforgettable love story, but it is not the one you’re expecting.

Interesting read with a great finish. Enjoyed it!
This book had well-developed characters and a plot that was somewhat unexpected. I enjoyed it from start to finish.

Beautiful story, found this through part of a book club and glad I did. As may not have picked up otherwise.

Mostly good book 🤷🏾♀️
I went on audible looking for something easy and light and was intrigued by the blurb, the reader really breathed life into the characters.
Now, to be honest the writing and the characters weren’t amazing but they were okay and felt fine to read with how well the plot was going building anticipation and excitement. For the first 70% of the book, I loved it! I had no idea how the protagonist was going to end up where the author has showed us she will and I was excited!
Even when she wrote whole scenes that had no added value to the plot or character development, I was still in!
Unfortunately, it was all a bit anticlimactic, it was so cliche and predictable that I had completely dismissed the possibility of it ending how it did. The only thing more cliche is if they had another flash forward and .... ***SPOILER ALERT**** Dani married Greg.
The main choices the protagonist made, made absolutely no sense whatsoever, unless the author expects us to believe that Dani is essentially delusional and all the markers she had laid out identifying her as a Type A person who was logical and methodical were greatly exaggerated???
Either way I’d say it’s a good book to pass the time, particularly as an audiobook. The end is just a tad disappointing is all, but we’re here for the journey right?

Pass
I enjoyed the first few chapters of this book but I lost interest as soon as the focus became the over-bearing, clingy, obsessive relationship between Bella and Danni. It seems like so many books in this genre have to have a quirky, flighty, best friend who is a foil to the protagonist. I lost interest. The narration was also terrible.

Not a favourite
I don’t know that I would’ve read this if it wasn’t for book club. I didn’t love how it all turned out so soured me on the story a bit. Not bad, but not my favourite.

It was Nearly a Great Book
This is a hard book for me to review. It is very well written. Development of characters is superb. And the performance on my audio book was excellent.
The friendship between the two girls is beautiful. They are kind, understand each other perfectly and have a very close friendship. The twist at the end is very surprising.
Does the publisher demand a sex scene before publishing the novel because gratuitous sex doesn’t make a novel better, it just makes it porn for me.

Absolutely amazing
I absolutely am in love with this book!
I love how this book just swallows you, how I couldn’t stop reading, how I cried to it. I loved Bella, and I really relate to the main character. I recommend you read this if you’re looking for something sad.

Great Book
I loved how the story was told because from the first chapter we all know information that we shouldn’t. I enjoyed how it wasn’t as predictable as it seemed.
