Like many Americans, journalist William Craig understood the grim necessity of the post-9/11 invasion of Afghanistan, but was shocked by the reckless invasion of Iraq and the nation's bizarre commitment to an endless "Global War on Terror." Frightened for his stepson serving with the Marines in Iraq, and frustrated with conventional journalism's complicity in the war, Craig sent himself to Cuba to write about the United States' first overseas imperial war. 'Yankee Come Home' describes the sites and re-examines the history of the "Spanish-American War" of 1898, connecting the past to contemporary U.S. foreign policy and daily life in Castro's Cuba. A writer, musician and professor of history and humanities, William Craig is the son of bestselling authors William Craig and Eleanor (Craig) Green, whose careers blossomed in the 1960s and '70s. He lives in Vermont and teaches at River Valley Community College in Claremont, NH.
