I received an Advanced Reader’s Copy of this novel, and was so glad I did. It picks up where Dragonslayer left off, and grabs you into the story like you never left (love it!). As other have noted there is further character development in KOTSC and, for me even as important, significant development of how magic works in this world. I found it an engaging read and look forward the next one...!
5.0 out of 5 starsSimply put - great story telling

Duncan Hamilton understands intimately the elements of balance to deliver a great story. Character, pace, dialogue and empathy - and underneath it all the foundations of a compelling story. All the ingredients but at the same time a perfect mix that is compelling enough to make you forget to analyse, just enjoy.

Have read all of this author’s books but the same problem present in his last series persists here: it is all tell and no show. The massive info dumps make it unreadable. The whole plot moves forward by information the author gives, not by the actions or conversations the characters take part in.
To make it worse, the reader has to slog through POVs that are of absolutely no interest (eg, amaury’s). The author should be able to present this in a more interesting and concise way. I began to skim pages /chapters towards the end, and didn’t end up missing much.
And to top it off, the book ends in a cliffhanger. Not worth spending money on.
5.0 out of 5 starsI'm loving the pace of the series

There is an excellent balance of character building and action. I like the characters and where they are in relation to other series I've read of the same kingdoms. Some second books in a series are too much bridge between but this is just as good as the first and I can't wait for the next. I can highly recommend. Gbash

I enjoy Mr. Hamilton's work, and will certainly read the next installment of this story. That said, it seems for some reason that painfully little progress was made in this installment. Maybe it's just me

This is shaping up to be a fantastic series. After devouring Dragonslayer, I eagerly awaiting book 2. When I got it, I couldn't put it down. Great characters and very well plotted, with a pace to keep you turning pages. Now I'm eagerly awaiting book 3!
This is a great continuation of the series. Each of Mr. Hamilton's books in the trilogy get the story moving at just the right pace. Knight of the Silver Circle was a tremendous sequel and it makes me look forward to the final volume in the series.
