4.0 out of 5 stars Great read

Fantastic book, a delicious blend of suspense and romance with the emphasis on the suspense. I really enjoyed the writing style of the author, the characters were real and the plot kept me turning the pages. The end seemed slightly anticlimactic but I did enjoy how the lead characters relationship evolved culminating in their HEA. I recommend this author for fans of Loreth Ann White and Karen Rose. Will definitely be reading more from Laura Griffin.

Have read all Laura Griffin books and enjoyed them. The characters did not work and the storyline was boring and not up to her usual standard.
Disappointing all round.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok story but not nailbiting, not suspenseful and certainly not fast paced. At times I got a bit bored as it dragged. A long way from her best.

There have been too many things that have prevented this read from being, at least, entertaining.
The plot has been boring and predictable. And as soon as things get interesting, the explanations or reasons given by the author are either vague and do not explain anything, or are simply non-existent. Or too far-fetched to be credible ...

The MC's are a bunch of clichés. They hardly have an original or sincere feature. The conflicts are trite. The interactions are mediocre. Despite the author incessantly repeating how interested they were in each other, I have neither seen nor "felt" that attraction.

And add to all the above a heroine with moments so stupid (to live) that they are impossible to believe (the author describes them as daring ...) and a hero who does not know what he wants in matters of love (or does he know? Maybe? Who knows? *roll eyes*) and you get a boring and difficult story to finish.

A pity, because this author is really prolific and has very good reviews. I must have tried the wrong story. Or series.
I'll keep searching…

***

2.0 out of 5 stars Tedious and boring

I’ve read most of this author’s works and enjoyed many. This one I couldn’t wait to finish. A woman is brutally murdered and the first third of the book details Bailey the reporter’s attempts to get info from the detective covering the case. Though neither of them know much of anything any way—including her name. It’s slow and BORING! There are hints that they are attracted to each other but this is pretty uninteresting as well. Both, thru their own individual sources find out who she is and the reason she was killed at which point the story makes a left turn into illegal data mining of information by a local company—all of which turns out to be equally tedious. They finally capture the killer and the reporter and detective get their HEA but at this point you really don’t care that much. Take my advice and skip this one.
