I have been a long time Bruce Springsteen fan and read many books written about him over the years, but I find this to be one of the most informative and readable of all the Springsteen books.
It is rich in detail and personal interviews, going back to the days in New Jersey long before he was a household name. Peter Carlin does a terrific job balancing personal behind the scene stories of the band members and associates with the stories behind the lyrics of some of the early Springsteen songs, stories that I had never heard before in all my reading and watching of Springsteen documentaries. I found myself racing through the book whenever I had time to read, and then listening to the old Springsteen albums with a new appreciation when I couldn't be reading it.
The book was both entertaining and informative, and should be read by any Springsteen fan.
