A love story that doesn't feel like a love story which outlines a truly realistic portrayal of the life of a convert to paraplegia. Michael's life is blown apart by his injury and the repercussions to his life both from within and outside elements. Though nothing is sugar coated it's not a fest of unpleasantries: everything is on a need to know basis. I confess to not liking Samirah at the outset. Yes her position when meeting Michael was not good but I felt she was freeloading somewhat. However she saw who he was as opposed to what he was and therein lay the difference. Quite gritty in places. Good secondary characters. No miracle cures. A really good and enjoyable book which I shall read more than once.
Having read Kathryn's more recent series I was really happy to come across her earlier books. This is a far cry from the books I have read already but I really enjoyed it. It's more hard hitting and has a strong storyline with a difficult subject matter. However I loved the book and will go back and read all of Kathryn'a other books as I love the way she writes
I read this book over 2 days. The story is compelling and heartwarming. This book is so well written that you really do care about Sam and Michael. I would recommend this book if you are looking for an easy read with some depth.
