I read her first novel SAFE WITH ME and thought it was brilliant; second one BLINK, not so good. This one, LIAR, very disappointing. The plot was pure formulaic and as such, the ending was no surprise. Such is the case with this type of book- there are only 2 possibilities of who the real cray-cray is. The prologue confirms that. And once you know that one character has a motive for her behaviour it is just a matter of finding out what the motive is, and again, it is pretty obvious.
I really liked the author's writing style right from the very first paragraph. What I liked best was how the story was broken up into the two main characters presenting their own story. I would recommend this book; however, at the very end I was shocked that I was left dangling. I want to know more....did she die...did the killer get found out, etc. I really felt robbed at the end. Very disappointed.
Wow. It only arrived on my Kindle app today, but it was devoured in less than four hours. I could not put it down! Ms. Slater takes us on a journey through not just one but two minds that are so twisted that you don't know what's real and what isn't until almost the very end... Then you get hit with a huge twist that sends all of your theories out the window. It's awesome.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes psychological thrillers.
I haven't finished the book yet but it's riveting. Slater really knows how to build suspense. You feel like you know these people by the way she describes their conversations. I have so much empathy for what Ben's mom is going through. She doesn't give up in spite of the many life-changing events that have created struggle and heartache for her. It's unputdownable! I'm completely hooked and would highly recommend.
THIS was just as amazing as her other two books! Some things I figured out but there were still plenty twists that I didn't see coming! Her style of writing is my favourite! If you haven't already checked out "Blink" and "Safe With Me" Add these to your list of reading along with this one!
I was pretty well hooked right from the beginning. It was my first time reading this author and I found it hard to put down. But after all the time leading up to the conclusion I was disappointed in the ending. To me it was a complete about face of the character and just not believable to me, in my opinion it was an amateurish turn in an otherwise well written novel. It really had all the makings of a great story until the ending.
This read was a page turner. Couldn't put it down and was disappointed when I finished it as I wanted it to go on and on. I told my husband to read it as this was one book with so many twists and turns I knew he would love it... He did... Now I'm on the look out for more books by K.L. Slater.... I know I won't be disappointed.....
This book was very slow. 60% in and nothing had really happened. Story didn't pick up until around 80% and by that point I was just desperate to finish it. I like the writing but it was just so slow! I kind of saw the ending coming.... and wasn't a fan of it either:(
