3.0 out of 5 starsNeeds more editing

An enjoyable and entertaining read. This story is about Brendon and Kaylee. I found myself rooting for them from the start. They had intense and immediate chemistry. I found the angst of the story started to get a bit dark but then quickly disappeared. They had a lot of struggles but over cane. All in all a decent read. I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book so I expect some edits, this book could use another proper proofing as not only were there error but also similar but inncorrect word exchanges and punctuation issues. If I purchased, I would have probably returned if these issues weren’t corrected. It did take from the story so I hope the authors takes heed.
I'm a real sucker for these "admire from afar"/"I want who I can't have" books. Like this one!
Crystal did an excellent job of building up the tension between Kay and Brendon, as well as throwing them into a living situation that made it impossible or them to resist each other. (I couldn't wait to see how that finally happened!)
Some emotional / mental health issues are addressed in this story, which adds sort of a shadow to the book, but that works in this case, as it makes the lighter times that much brighter.
(I received a copy of this book in consideration of an honest review)
4.0 out of 5 starsComplex broken characters and lots of angst-y family drama

After reading the blurb and loving it, then reading the reviews of some readers that didn’t enjoy the book, I was concerned. I didn’t need to be. I can see where some of those unhappy readers were coming from, but I can also see where the author was trying to take us. Kaylee’s depression makes her both wise beyond her years yet also triggers her to behave in ways even younger than her tender age. Brendon just can’t get out of his own way long enough to see the man he’s become. I haven’t read much by the author, but I’ve discovered that a Kaswell book is probably going to give me complex broken characters and lots of angst-y family drama, which is exactly what I got in this story. I look forward to reading more about the staff of Inked Hearts. I received a complimentary copy of this book.
Rcvd an advanced reader copy from the author for giving my two cents. We meet brenden, tattoo artist and older bother to Emma, kaylees bff. He is 8 yrs older than kay and Emma and is in love with Kay. Kaylee is broken and wants to be loved desperately by Brendan. But her life gets more complicated when her parents tell her they are moving to NJ to take care of her grandma... without her, but she will.be staying with Emma and brenden. The injustice of it all but when kay glimpses at Brendan's art book and sees her.. she knows he feels the same. A chance encounter ha kaylee asking brenden to take her v-card but Emma cant find out. Secret relationships equals trouble. What will kaylee do when Emma finds out?
4.0 out of 5 starsAlways believe that you can attain the unattainable

I read this book originally in 2017 as the first book in the Inked Hearts Series. Having read them all now I still think that this is probably the best one in the series. It took me back to my teens to remember serious crushes on the unattainable and how hard it was. Kaylee feels the same way about Brendon never thinking that he would notice her. However he has been noticing her but trying not to act on it. It is a really beautiful story about these two people who have to struggle to finally get their HEA. Loved it, hard to put down.
I was completely enraptured with this book. Kay and Brendon should not happen. Too much is at stake. Family and friends will get hurt and they both do not want that to happen, but the temptation is so intense between them. They have to find a way to navigate the obstacles in their way, so no one gets hurt. This book was an awesome read and am glad I read it.

Kaylee is a single child and is about to start her first year of university. Her parents have decide to move back to New Jersey from California to look after her grandmother who is sick and makes the decision that Kaylee won't be coming with them. She is now living with her best friend (Emma) and her brother (Brendon) in their house. Kaylee has had a thing for Brendon for quite some time even and now that she is 18 and no longer jail bait she hopes that maybe Brendon might see her as more then his sister's annoying, nerdy best friend. Only to find out that he does think about her and not just in a huh she's hot, wouldn't mind kissing her kind of way - nope - how about some tie me up, tie me down action!
Brendon is a tattoo artist working at Inked Hearts. He has been looking after his little sister since his parents both died - leaving him as her should guardian. He has stepped up to ensure that Emma is taken care of. But he can't get Kaylee, his sister's best friend, out of his mind. She is his fantasy and he believes his unicorn - he can't give in to his urges, he's 26 to Kaylee's 18 and now that she is living in his house and he's promised her parents to take care of her - but god does she drive him crazy. And when he finds out she has invaded his privacy and seen the pictures in his sketch book of her... well the rules are changing.
Kaylee and Brendon catch on fire with her passion. But there is a few secrets that need to be shared for them to be together and to work on their happily ever after. Man those secrets are juicy - some of their own making and some that need trust to share (in each other and in themselves). So can Kaylee and Brendon work through it all and come out the other side?
Crystal Kaswell is a word smith and she isn't afraid to explore the darkness that mental health can bring. I laughed, I cried, I definitely was rooting for Kaylee and Brendon the whole way - and man did I feel for Kaylee. This book's plot was a hard one for her and if she was real I'd hug the crap out of her. Awesome read - great plot, steamy scenes, and a world that intertwines with some of Crystal's other Series'. Loved it!
I loved this book of forbidden love. I'm in love with my best friends brother but I don't think he knows. Kaylee has always had a thing for Brendon but does he feel the same? When she finds out he does she can't stop thinking about it but will he make a move. I loved their chemistry but he doesn't think he is good enough for her. Secrets are revealed, feelings are hurt but will they be together. I loved reading this book & would definitely recommend it. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

Wow, this story was so hot. Loved the storyline and the characters. A lot too much of the filthy words, which was a shame as it reduced the romance in this story to just sordid sex. But I loved it anyway 😜

I can't get over how amazing this book makes me feel. I had butterflies in my stomach literally from first to last page. It's so well written and the scenes are so hot. It's just perfect. I am literally lost for words. EDIT: I read the book on KU, but it was so good I decided to buy it.
