Orange Blossom Days written by Patricia Scanlan for me was another great read by one of my favourite authors. The book is based on the residents of a Spanish apartment complex named La Joya de Andalucía, the new residents are starting to arrive in this brand new complex and as they come from all over the world each new resident has arrived with excitement for their new stages in their lives but as the book continues their new holiday home is not the escape from their normal lives than they first thought.
Each couple has big dreams for their future, but as always life gets in the way and soon their holiday home is not the oasis they first dreamed off.
A wonderful work of modern-day fiction which is full of excellent characters making this one book I would happily recommend. Patricia Scanlan is a wonderful writer and one who knows how to develop characters making them seem real to the reader.
A great read which I am happy to recommend.

As I was in Southern Spain on holiday I felt that I had to read this book whilst I was there ! It was a very long book ( over 600 pages) and I felt it did drag in the middle bits but it kept my interest and was a lovely book to switch off with.
The story is about a group of people who have holiday homes in a new block of flats . There are a lot of characters and there stories did interweave a little . By the end of the book I was sad to leave La Joya and its residents!

I didn't know what to expect as the start of the book is actually the ending of the book, but what a story in between! Strong characters well written and the writing makes you believe you're there, in a new apartment building in Spain, overlooking the sea. ..

I really enjoyed reading about the different characters and learning about their lives. A complete mix of people, each with their own story to tell.

I laughed and cried in equal measure. .. an enjoyable book and I will be reading more of this authors books.

I deliberately took my time reading this book, as with all previous books I devour them in no time at all! P.S, never fails to deliver me warmth, community, togetherness, food for thought especially where I am in my life, & that's happened in quite a few of her books. To cut a long story short (I can hear you all saying 'Please do!') After reading all her books, this one in particular, I always end up not only resonating with the characters but warm & grateful too....

I usually love Patrician Scanlan's books but felt just slightly let down by this one, because although it was beautiful written, as always, there wasn't really a plot, and I was upset (spoiler alert) by the death of one of the main characters :(
I did enjoy all the Spanish bits, though once or twice I felt she was just showing off how good her Spanish is and I am not at all sure that Texans put y'all" into every sentence, but maybe they do.
All that said, I did very much enjoy this book, and will certainly continue reading Patricia Scanlan's new books.
