Great book. After trying everything we could we finally went to this book and man did it ever work. The first night we used it our kid slept for 8 hours straight and it was worth a million dollars as we hadn’t had more than 4 hours of sleep in 6 months since we had them. I hav given it as a gift to every person who has had a child. We hope they never need it but it’s great if you do.
Excellent book. Very informative and really helping give us and our baby girl healthy sleeping habits that grow with her. I thought there were plenty of tips, examples, observations and annecdotes which cumulatively have made us more proactive. Good to be informed before you get in the trenches, and good to know how her patterns and sleep needs change over time. Specifically, it also pushed us to slowly dial forward her bedtime quite a bit, at around 2-3 months old (from 1030pm to 730pm), which seemed outlandish at the time since she was sleeping 8 hour stretches then (11 hours just seemed greedy!). But in hindsight it seems to have really locked in her night time sleeping cycle and abilities.
I was getting up 5 or more times a night with my baby sleeping on my chest on the couch for two whole months before I bought this book. We implemented a slightly modified version of this method when our son was just over 5 months. After about 5 days he wakes once to eat now and generally sleeps from 7 to 7 with little to no tears at bed time. While I didn’t utilize everything this book had to offer, I found it very empowering and it gave me hope that sleep training my baby could work. I certainly would suggest giving it a try if you have a very poor sleeper like my boy.
Amazing, magical miracle book. The sleep wave WORKS. I expected our baby to cry for hours but it really wasn't bad (15+20 minutes the first night, 10 the second), and four days in she's going to sleep with only a few seconds of crying. This method makes me feel like we aren't just abandoning her and she is her usual happy self. I'm recommending this to everyone!!!!
It’s not a a bad book but just not quite what I was looking for. I’ve read the whole thing and don’t really feel as though I’m any farther ahead with my 4 month old having better sleep. It was more facts being told about sleep than helpful tips or suggestions on how to help him sleep.
Yes, yes, yes! Cannot recommend this book enough. Perfect sleep training book for those who like the compromise between the ‘attachment parenting’ method and the ‘cry it out’ method. Been getting 12-13 hour night time sleep since using this book.
A lot of duplicated information, it goes on and on on how it is not a crying out method when it is. Basically it is crying out method with different intervals, gives you a couple of advices that can help but overall too much information for what it end up being.
I’ve read a dozen sleep training books, hired a consultant and the training was horrible and cruel. I am still having issues with my toddler. I now have a new infant and this book has helped me so much! Gentle, effective method works. Offers tips for wide range of ages. Infant is trained! Toddler is next.
