This author continues to write very moving and exciting romantic suspense novels. As an addition to her Cold Justice series, she brings an investigative female reporter, fleeing the traumatic results of her last project, to visit her closest friend, a PHD biomedical researcher in Atlanta. Tragedy occurs followed by the investigation of FBI agent, Hunt Kinkaid, of the Atlanta field office. Part of Kinkaid's duties is responsibility for WMD investigations in the area. A diabolic plot is in the process of being carried out by unknown individuals in either the academic or biomedical industry.
Kinkaid, his colleagues and the reporter are thrust into a dangerous spiral of events as they search for the ruthless plotters.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not her best...

I do think I really enjoy Toni Anderson, generally. I read all of her published Cold Justice series last winter in the space of a few weeks and was eager for more. This one was okay, and definitely worth a go if you like romantic suspense, I just found the establishment of the relationship a bit forced ( one of the reasons I think I enjoyed the rest of the series so much was because that's a common feature of romance novels she can manage well) and some of the romantic exchanges a bit saccharine. The mystery component was good and details as well implemented as ever.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exciting and suspenseful romance!
Reviewed in Canada on June 12, 2018
Cold Blooded by Toni Anderson is the latest book in her Cold Justice series. It's an exciting and suspenseful standalone romance, with some twists and turns as a disgraced journalist and an FBI agent cross paths in the search for a murderer.

Journalist Pip West's last assignment turned deadly for an innocent woman and her family. Seeking a new start, she's shown up on the doorstep of her friend Cindy only to discover Cindy's dead body. The police want to blame it on a drug overdose and bad choices, but Pip knows there is more to the story.

Special Agent Hunt Kincaid has been tasked with tracking down the source of weaponized anthrax that has turned up on the black market. When a biotech researcher who is developing an anthrax vaccine turns up dead, he's on the case. Pip's presence is unwelcome, no matter that she's a friend of the deceased. It's possible she's involved in some way, and Hunt aims to keep her close as he works to uncover the truth. Their attraction to each other leads to even more complications. But will they get the chance to explore a relationship before time runs out?

This is one of those stories that will keep you up late at night to find out what happens next! Pip and Hunt are coming at the investigation with different motives. For Pip, grieving her friend's ignominious death, the drug overdose theory doesn't ring true for her friend who never was into that scene. For Hunt, a deadly weapon could be in the wrong hands and Pip's friend could have something to do with it. Hunt can't tell Pip the real reason he's involved in the investigation of Cindy's death but she is able to convince him to look more deeply into the cause and soon finds herself caught up in something even more deadly.

There were some plot points that I was able to guess ahead of time and others that caught me completely off guard. It's a gritty story that doesn't shy away from the reality of death nor the destruction that can occur with a biological weapon like anthrax. The author has clearly researched the topic well and this adds to the authenticity of the plot. The romance between Hunt and Pip doesn't happen right away as there must be a measure of trust between them before they succumb to their attraction. The story culminates in some action packed and harrowing scenes before the happy ending for the couple. If you like suspenseful and page turning reads, you'll want to have Toni Anderson on your shelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars PIP SAYS MURDER
Reviewed in Canada on June 12, 2018
COLD BLOODED
Another great story .We meet Pip, an investigator journalist, quitting her job, and headed to the home of her friend Carol. The police said overdose, and suicide. Pip says murder, and weaves her way thru politics, bio weapons, to prove them wrong. Agent Hunt with FBI can’t let her know he doesn’t like journalists. They keep bumping into each other, and a romance maybe, and to work together, to prove murder.
In-depth plot and characters, you know them, and watching the steps they are taking. The plot catches you from beginning to the ending, and won’t disappoint readers.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series of books, and have rated them 4 or 5 stars. This one missed the mark a little though. Somehow it was just too far fetched and I didn't really like Pip West. Sorry, this one wasn't for me.

What a book! It had everything, drama, angst, intrigue, pure evil and love. Beautiful selfless love. This was an emotional read, touching on some pretty horrendous subjects but as is her way Ms Anderson handled them with style and portrayed the characters realistically but compassionately. I was very sad at the end but i was hooked from the beginning. Great book and series.

Pip & Hunt hate each other on sight, for good reason. It all goes downhill from there, until the truth starts to finally come out.
