4.0 out of 5 stars Hunter and Emma are just perfect for each other
Reviewed in Canada on October 2, 2018
Emma runs from her apartment to the safety of her brother’s place. But instead of finding her brother, she finds a very naked, sexy ... Hunter, her brother’s friend. Hunter just got out of rehab and Brendon gives him a chance and gets him a job at Inked Hearts and lets Hunter stay at his place while he’s away on vacation. The more Hunter and Emma get to know one another, the hotter the fire burns between them. But will they get over their demons so that they can be together?

I really liked the Hunter and Emma ... they just seemed perfect for each other. I enjoyed the beginning of the book and the end of the book ... I just found it a little boring in the middle. It just seemed to repeat the same situation ... Hunter not feeling he’s good enough for Emma. But otherwise I enjoyed it. Ms Kaswell nicely set up characters (Wes, Griffin and Chase) for future books.

I graciously received an ARC courtesy of the author in exchange for a honest review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Two Broken People Find Each Other
Reviewed in Canada on October 5, 2018
Another great story in thge Inked Hearts series. How two broken people can find each other. It was painful watching Emma trying to recover from an incident that changed her life at such a young age. Hunter has had a very rough past and is also trying to recover using a lot of willpower and the desire to get better to not have a drink. They become suprise roommates when Emma's brother invites Hunter to stay at his house, and Emma needs to get away from her apartment, though she refuses to tell anyone why.

There is immediate chemistry between them and the raspberry towel!,even though they just cannot get along at first. Hunter has promised Emma's brother that he will leave her alone, and Emma is not ready to trust again. Even though they both struggle to resist each other it becomes more and more impossible but once they begin to get closer, Emma has to face up to what happened to her and has to learn to trust again.

Though a difficult subject to write about, Crystal did it well and did not overdramatize the incident but let her readers understand how painful it was for Emma. Although I knew there would be a happy ending because there usually is, I am so glad that these two got theirs they so deserved it. I received an advance copy and this is my honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Use Of Time Reading This Novel!
Reviewed in Canada on October 5, 2018
Great story and characterizations. There was great dialogue between characters; fast-paced and very stimulating. The two main characters especially kept rapidly bantering back and forth between each other. This is a lovely romantic tale but it comes attached to, unfortunately, not uncommon issues of the day: alcoholism and rape. Ms. Kaswell gently maneuvered around these two delicate issues, yet parlayed in-depth feelings and struggles, of not only the effected individual, but also of those who love and support the person. An intense read that is very well put together.

Excellent use of my time reading this novel.

I sense more novels may appear in this series as Ms. Kaswell has introduced three new characters that have been hired to work at the shop. Yippee

5.0 out of 5 stars A M A Z I N G
Reviewed in Canada on October 6, 2018
I think Hunter and Emma’s story has to been then best out of all the Inked Heart books. It is a lot longer the all the others, so I think the author got a bit more in-depth with their complicated story. Both have to fight through past pain, they both think in one way or another that they are broken. But their broken pieces fit together. Even though it takes Hunter a lot longer to realize it. Their love story is hard, complicated, but also so so so sweet. They both get the redemption that they deserve.

Oh and I can’t wait for the new guys to get their stories because I wasn’t happy that this series was ending!

4.0 out of 5 stars Part of a Series but can be enjoyed as a Standalone
Reviewed in Canada on October 10, 2018
Breaking the Rules is a smoking hot standalone brother's best friend romance with an alpha hero and a feisty heroine who brings him to his knees. Crystals books have a commonality that both individuals have their own issues, but in the end always fight thru them and work their way to be with each other. I like how she introduces the upcoming characters for her future books so they all tie into each other. I like how she is working the characters and some tough subjects, I feel Crystal is coming into her best writings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just proves that some rules are meant to be broken
Reviewed in Canada on October 5, 2018
Both Emma and Hunter have been through some pretty dark times, so who better to understand broken than each other. Being Emma's brother's best friend only puts a little more tension between these two who know shouldn't go there but can't seem to fight it. Loved how the sexual tension grows as their willpower evaporates. Starting as friends only makes me want them together more. Feel like going to get a tattoo in hopes of finding a Hunter......

4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful slow burn
Reviewed in Canada on October 4, 2018
This is the story of Emma and Hunter. It is a great friend to lovers story. I laughed, swooned while reading this beautiful slow burn. The issues these two are dealing with are very real life issues that many can relate too. Both aren’t sure they are ready for relationship and are trying to fight the chemistry between them. I really enjoyed reading this book it moved at a nice pace and I didn’t want to stop reading once I started. I received an advanced copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Another Inked Hearts cracker. I really enjoyed this book, the back stories to both characters were difficult but well written. I love Emma and Hunter. I love that all the other characters still make an appearance. I can’t wait for the next book....

3.0 out of 5 stars Good stories, poor tattoo research.
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 12, 2018

As with all of the Inked Hearts books, I find the stories compelling but the details sadly lacking. Tattoo artists don't call their machines 'guns', they don't stencil through anything either, nor do they tend to use temp tattoos for placement purposes. These glaring stereotypes make me wonder if the author did any research into true tattoo culture at all. Its a shame, because I quite enjoy the books but they are somewhat ruined for me by the lack of accuracy.
