Gladwell has written a lot of interesting books. Gladwell`s reputation led me to the spontaneous purchase of this book.
Well, many potential readers may find themselves disappointed. The book has lots of fun Gladwell like anecdotal stories. This part of the book most readers will enjoy. The early part of the book sets up the main theme.
Most people misread the intentions of strangers that they meet. Well okay fine. Gladwell then points out different examples of misreads throughout the book.
Here is where the disappointment starts to creep in. The reader has an early sense, that Gladwell will provide some solutions to the problem of misreading strangers. How can we change our mindset, into being better able to understand people we run into. Instead, the book ends on the same starting note. We do not understand strangers very well and that`s it. End of story.
Perhaps, my expectations were too high. But for yours truly, this book did not deliver the full punch.
