And dogs! The supporting characters are also likeable. Im still smiling while writing this review. Absolutely a part of my faves
Melissa Brayden gives the reader another winner with Beautiful Dreamer. At its heart is a story as old as romance - small-town local meets a driven and successful out-of-towner. However, this story is put together so well and reworks some tropes in a wonderful way. Elizabeth loves Dreamer's Bay - but she is very successful and happy in where she is. Devyn is rich, and a workaholic who doesn't have time for relationships - but she is also complex and caring and doesn’t hesitate to rush back to Dreamer’s Bay when needed. The writing and overall feel of the book are excellent. It's hard to pin down, but this book just might be the romance you are looking for... One of the very best w/w romances this summer. Highly recommended.
Elizabeth Draper is a good, kind person who always sees the best in others even if that means being the odd girl out. She never really fit in when she was in school, so most of her time growing up was spent being with her father and a few friends. But leaving Dreamer’s Bay wasn’t something she ever really thought about, mainly because she loved her small town so she starts her own business, ‘On the Spot,’ doing what she has always done, helping others with the small jobs they didn’t have time for. Being the small town Dreamer’ Bay is she knows all of her clients, and when one of her regular clients goes missing she quickly organizes a search party to help find her. Devyn Winters also grew up in Dreamer’s Bay but her teen years were vastly different from Elizabeth’s. With lots of friends she enjoyed a full social life but still she could hardly wait to get out of town, the only drawback being leaving her mother and sister behind. She worked hard becoming one of Philadelphia's top real estate brokers. She did not have time for much of a social life because her job always came first. But that all changes when she gets a call from Dreamer’s Bays police telling her, her sister is missing. I admit I’m a big fan of Ms Brayden’s work and can honestly say I’ve enjoyed reading all of her books. But this book ‘Beautiful Dreamer’ is easily, in my opinion, the best so far. Well developed characters you can’t help but like. A very, very enjoyable read. ARC via NetGalley/ Bold Stroke Books

A story to fall in love with!!!
Devyn is called home after a family emergency, ripping her from her high powered, busy business life in Philadelphia. She hasn’t lived in Dreamer’s Bay for so long she is suffocated being back in such a slow, sleepy place in comparison to the city but her sister needs her. Upon arrival she is met by Elizabeth, gem of the town, and an old acquaintance she barely remembers from their high school days. Despite Devyn’s behaviour, Elizabeth is always on hand, lending support, helping out where she can and breaking down Devyn’s walls until she just can’t help but admit she is attracted to her. When Devyn is faced with the decision of staying or returning to her life in the city, Elizabeth is heartbroken, but Devyn is conflicted. She makes a choice but instantly questions if it was the right one.
This was such a beautiful story, emotional in so many ways. The characters really made it something special. Elizabeth alone is a character you will instantly be charmed by. She is admirable and person I think most would aspire to be, beautiful inside and out, and just a good person who unfortunately gets hurt, and yet still takes care of everyone else before she looks after herself. Elizabeth is who I fell in love with. I had such a connection her, loved what she stood for, her interactions – just everything. Then we threw in Devyn and although I adored her, she is also someone to aspire to, but she has her priorities all wrong and has to learn some things are more important in life.
I totally adored everything this story stood for. Community, love, understanding, selflessness. It was truly beautiful and had me crying more than once. Elizabeth was just someone relatable and her character just made this story for me. If you love romance then this for you. Romance doesn’t get any better than the cute moments woven into this story by the talented Melissa Brayden. I highly recommend this. If you want to fall in love with the story you are reading, but get all emotional at the same time, Devyn and Elizabeth’s story is for you!

I really enjoyed this! Finally.... after a couple of interim books that didn't quite cut the mustard, Melissa brought us Beautiful Dreamer. Well thought out characters.. bit of drama.. and *spoiler* - one of the characters had to actually work at an apology and win someone back! Shock, horror! Left me feeling all warm and fuzzy... missed this from MB. As you were!
I normally don’t leave reviews ever so the fact that I’m doing this says a lot. This was one of the best books I’ve read in a long long time. I laughed, I cried and everything in between. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Please please please do yourself a favour and purchase this book. You won’t regret it!
