4.0 out of 5 starsA Rushed Ending For Me - but Good

I've not read many of K. L. Slater books but this was a pretty darn good mystery and I enjoyed it. The only problem I had with it, was that the ending seemed bit rushed. All through the book, you are kept on your toes as you know something sinister is going on in the Adder house and it's apartments. But what? Freya, the mom, knows things are a "bit off" but can't put her finger on it. And who couldn't love her daughter Skye? What a delight she is. I give this a 4 star and just wish the ending had been a bit more tied up to a clean finish for my tastes. Too many unanswered questions.
The Apartment by K.L. Slater, narrated by Tuppence Middleton and John Chancer kept me engaged from beginning to end. The storyline was suspenseful, and everything I predicted was completely wrong. It kept me guessing all the way through. I'm really happy with my purchase. This is the first audiobook I've listened to by this author and the narrators; I enjoyed it so much that I now have 2 additional titles by K.L. Slater in my library. :-)
I thought the narration was really good. I know some reviews mention the little girl's voice sounding a bit like an old lady or a witch, but it didn't bother me at all. Middleton was consistent and easy to follow. I plan to hear more of her work!
I give a rating of 4 - 4.3 stars to The Apartment by K.L. Slater, narrated by Tuppence Middleton and John Chancer. Like many books, some events that happen early on don't fully make sense to the reader/listener until later. This was the case for me with this audiobook, although I didn't realize it at the time. I was confused who certain characters were and didn't understand how these parts/episodes had anything to do with the main plot. I kept thinking I missed something important, so I would rewind and re-listen, only to find myself a confused again. Once it all came together I was annoyed that I spent so much time re-listening to various parts. If this happens to you, don't worry...it all makes sense later on. :-) I recommend this audiobook to those who enjoy suspenseful, unpredictable listens, as well as those who are fans of thrillers.
Thank you for reading my review. I hope it was helpful. Happy listening!
This book keeps you on the edge of your seat. It is great. I love the twist! Not very often that I get surprised, so I really enjoyed this one. I knew it couldn’t be how it was leading me to believe but I was shocked when it was revealed. This was a great psychological thriller, in my opinion.
