An inspiring personal story of redemption, second chances, and the transformative power within us all, from the founder and CEO of the nonprofit charity: water. In the tradition of such best-selling books as Shoe Dog and Mountains Beyond Mountains, Thirst is a riveting account of how to build a better charity, a better business, a better life - and a gritty tale that proves it’s never too late to make a change.

One of the most powerful, positive and uplifting books I’ve ever read. You will laugh and you will cry many many times listening to this and you will be inspired by this. This is the shot in the arm of perspective the second vaccine dose and antidote to a jaded first world problem life. I love it.

From Israel to Afghanistan. The definitive combat history of the F-15 Eagle and Strike Eagle...as told by the pilots who flew them. For more than 40 years, the McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) F-15 Eagle has been the US Air Force’s premier multi-role fighter jet. Made popular by its ubiquity during the Persian Gulf War, the F-15 has become one of the most recognized and revered fighter jets in the world today. Throughout its illustrious combat history, the F-15 has earned more than 100 air-to-air victories...with zero losses.

For more than three decades, the Grumman F-14 Tomcat was the US Navy’s premier carrier-based, multirole fighter jet. From its harrowing combat missions over Libya to its appearance on the silver screen in movies like Top Gun and Executive Decision, the F-14 has become an icon of American air power. Now, for the first time in a single volume, Tomcat Fury explores the illustrious combat history of the F-14, from the Gulf of Sidra to the Iran-Iraq War to the skies over Afghanistan in the Global War on Terror.

Remotely piloted aircraft (RPA), commonly referred to by the media as drones, are a mysterious and headline-making tool in the military's counterterrorism arsenal. Their story has been pieced together by technology reporters, major newspapers, and on-the-ground accounts from the Middle East, but it has never been fully told by an insider. In Hunter Killer, Air Force Lt. Col. T. Mark McCurley provides an unprecedented look at the aviators and aircraft that forever changed modern warfare.

Really enjoyed this first person account of the US Air Force’s UAV/ Remotely Piloted Aircraft program. The author flew the General Atomics MQ-1 predator and eventually commanded a Predator Squadron overseas. I have been curious about this subject and found the first person style very engaging. The author’s description of the training, the job, the various environments he worked in and the missions really drew me in. I like the style of storytelling and the funny anecdotes peppered through the book. The author’s account of the impact the program had on operations in the field and the lives saved helped me understand the role these aircraft have. I found his account of the hunt for and killing of a terrorist in Afghanistan particularly sobering. He described his emotional struggle with this mission and others like it very well. Thank you for the lack of profanity. Great direction and narration.

Histoire
Dave Baranek (callsign "Bio") was one of 451 young men to receive his Wings of Gold in 1980 as a naval flight officer. Four years later, seasoned by intense training and deployments in the tense confrontations of the Cold War, he became the only one of that initial group to rise to become an instructor at the navy's elite Fighter Weapons School. As a Topgun instructor, Bio was responsible for teaching the navy's and Marine Corps' best fighter pilots how to be even better. He schooled them in the classroom and then went head-to-head with them in the skies.

How did a New York-born, Jewish, former-atheist novelist and screenwriter - a winner of multiple Edgar Awards, whose books became films with Clint Eastwood and Michael Douglas - find himself at the age of 50 being baptized and confessing Jesus as Lord? That's a tale worth telling.

Enjoyed the book, especially that it was written by the author. He’s likeable and tells the story well. It starts a little slow but picks up towards the end. I’d recommend Astronaut Mike Massimino’s book ‘Spaceman’ over this one though, more emotion and higher stakes.

The voice that spoke the cosmos into existence is the same voice that parted the Red Sea and made the sun stand still in the midday sky. One day, this voice will make all things new, but it’s also speaking to you now! That voice is God’s, and what we’ve learned from Scripture is that He often speaks in a whisper. Not to make it difficult to hear Him, but to draw us close. Sure, in ancient times and in mysterious ways, God spoke to His people, but is He still speaking now? Mark Batterson certainly believes so. And he wants to introduce you to the seven love languages of God.

Great book by Mark Batterson. Thank he presentation style is clear but almost like a good computer generated voice and was a little off putting initially. What is amazing is how God did speak to me as I read this book. It is packed with really great illustrations and anecdotes you’ll want to bookmark to come back to or share with your friends and family. It is the book, Audible’s app was invented for. It is high yield, but can be a bit dense, so listen for a bit, make notes, take a break and think about it. Then come back for more later. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to learn how to hear the voice of God. Enjoy.
