Histoire
Acclaimed actress Claire Danes burnishes an epic story of heroes, gods, and monsters in a groundbreaking translation of The Odyssey, the first great adventure story in the Western literary tradition. When the wily warrior-king Odysseus sets off for home after the Trojan War, he doesn’t realize this simple undertaking will become a perilous journey of 10 years. Beset at every turn, he encounters obstacles, detours, and temptations—both supernatural and human—while his wife Penelope fends off would-be suitors desperate to take the throne.

The Bhagavad Gita, "The Song of the Lord", is the best known of all the Indian scriptures, and Easwaran's reliable and accessible version has consistently been the best-selling translation. Easwaran's introduction places the Gita in its historical setting and brings out the universality and timelessness of its teachings. Chapter introductions give clear explanations of key concepts in that chapter.

the interpretation was a huge help especially with clarifying translations and religious/culture concepts. I have a much broader understanding of the practice yoga now instead of thinking it was just some funky stretches. the narration was great for the characters of Krishna and arjuna. but the character of sanjaya was given a very cringey and stereotypical indian accent. it felt pretty racist. I understand the intention was to make the characters more distinct. even so, I'm dropping the performance rating for that reason. it could have definitely been handled better. overall I highly recommend this audiobook for anyone on a spiritual path .

Robert Kiyosaki - author of the #1 personal finance book of all time - has built a legacy around simplifying complex and often-confusing subjects like money and investing. He continues to challenge conventional wisdom and asks the questions that will help listeners sift through today's information overload to uncover ways to assess what's real... and what isn't. And use truth and facts as a foundation for taking control of their financial lives. In this new book, Robert fights what’s "fake" and helps listeners differentiate between what’s real...and what isn’t.

very repetitive and unfocused In its message. presents many problems with only a few real solutions (invest in gold/silver mainly). the question answer segments feel a little disingenuous and out of place, as does the spirituality stuff. the relevant information is very important, and that's why I gave it a mid tier rating, but its spread through plenty of unnecessary fluff. I loved rich dad poor dad but this book owes me some hours back. get the sparknotes if you can, the key info is still worth a read.

One of the 20th century's most challenging novels of ideas, The Fountainhead champions the cause of individualism through the story of a gifted young architect who defies the tyranny of conventional public opinion. The struggle for personal integrity in a world that values conformity above creativity is powerfully illustrated through three characters: Howard Roarke, a genius; Gail Wynand, a newspaper mogul and self-made millionaire; and Dominique Francon, a devastating beauty.

The Prince, Machiavelli's 'little book', was written in 1513 and is dedicated to Lorenzo de' Medici. It remains a compelling and controversial treatise on politics, dispensing often cynical, sometimes brutal advice on gaining power and retaining it. Essential listening for our masters perhaps, but most certainly for those of us who would not be mastered. The text used here is the unabridged and classic translation by W. K. Marriott.

the combination of the writing and narration was painful to listen to. the writing style is dated and difficult to keep up with but the narration doesnt help either. I felt like I was listening to an actor in a play rather than an audiobook. I'm personally would choose to read the book rather than listen

A disturbing tale of a young man's uncanny ability to remain both young and beautiful while descending into a life of heartless debauchery, The Picture of Dorian Gray was considered proof of both Wilde's genius and his perversion. Oscar Wilde's scandalous best seller of 1891 was one of the most damning pieces of evidence used against him in the trial that brought about his downfall.

George Orwell depicts a gray, totalitarian world dominated by Big Brother and its vast network of agents, including the Thought Police - a world in which news is manufactured according to the authorities' will and people live tepid lives by rote. Winston Smith, a hero with no heroic qualities, longs only for truth and decency. But living in a social system in which privacy does not exist and where those with unorthodox ideas are brainwashed or put to death, he knows there is no hope for him.

Developing video games—hero's journey or fool's errand? The creative and technical logistics that go into building today's hottest games can be more harrowing and complex than the games themselves, often seeming like an endless maze or a bottomless abyss. In Blood, Sweat, and Pixels, Jason Schreier takes listeners on a fascinating odyssey behind the scenes of video game development, where the creator may be a team of 600 overworked underdogs or a solitary geek genius.
