I had to increase the speed to 1.25x, it was just too slow. The story itself focuses on his love of hockey and the terrible injustice his family and people had to live through. I found it hard to enjoy

I came into this book only knowing Trevor Noah from his comedy show and very little about him as a person. I knew the book was a bio, but wasn’t expecting it to be so raw and uncomfortable to listen to. There’s no sugar coating here, he’s had a tough upbringing and his book captures that perfectly. Don’t expect to laugh while listening to this book.

Thoughtful, well crafted progression all the way to the end. The story is engaging and kept me interested the whole way through. It’s a great murder-mystery type of book with a psychological twist. Highly recommend it.

Great read, the narrator did a fantastic job of bring the characters to life. There were moments in the story that were an emotional roller-coaster and were difficult to listen to. A great story of love, life and hardship. Highly recommended.

You have to go into this book knowing what you’re in for. It’s a long twisting set of storylines that are intertwined and take about 20 hours to set up. Once you get used to the characters and their back stories, the book becomes quite enjoyable.
