I was familiar with the story after watching the tv show - I much prefered the book. Given my own issues of growing up in a devoutly religious home and guilt-ridden over a siblings health, this book particularly resonated with me. I knew all the twists and turns (and there's many, and they're fantastic) before I set out to read it, and therefore got to really appreciate how accurate the portrayal of trauma and shameful guilt was. in short: brilliant.

The performance was amazing. Characters were emotive, distinct, and compelling. I am so happy I listened to this as an audiobook.

I loved this book. The prose was enchanting and the story captivating and melancholic in all the right ways. I listened to it on my walks to and from work as well as before naps.
