Seriously this is the third in the series that has been so bloody boring it’s not even funny. I quit. I’m not reading anymore. This one feels like the author is trying to impress us with how many polysyllabic nonsensical words he can come up with for a “science” that doesn’t exsit. Honestly, find the most boring TED talk on theoretical physics and listen to that. At least then you might have some interesting tid bits for your next dinner party. There are about 5 chapters worth listening to. Other than that its just bla bla bla boring minutiae that the author is just using to fill a contractual obligation. This should have, along with the prior 2, been short stories and nothing more. So not impressed. And who ever is directing the audio needs to tell the narrator to stick to the same pronunciation of names throughout the story and between books. That drives me nuts!

The narrator as usual was excellent. The story however was an absolutely boring waste of time. Nothing happened. At all. I’m about to start the next one. If it’s as dull I’ll be quite annoyed. It feels like the author had a contract for X number if books and its just writing drivel to fulfill it. So far this is the second in the series that is brutally boring. It’s certainly not worth a credit.

I love Dr Fung’s work and have hard copies of all his books, but wanted to listen in the car so got the audio book. The content is great. If you read the Obesity Code previously, the first several chapters of this one can likely be skipped however.
BUT...... Jimmy Moore is simply a wretched narrator. His accent and way of speaking sound like he’s got marbles in his mouth. I’m sure he’s fine when speaking naturally in a podcast or video, but for reading a book out loud he is terrible. If I actually had the time to read the physical book, his narration would have been what drove me to return the audio book.

Seriously, Dr Fung (or any of his people) you’re shooting yourself in the foot having this guy read your books. Please pick someone else next time. The guy who did Obesity Code was just fine.

The narration is absolutely horrible. It’s stilted with several mispronounced words. The physical book might be an interesting read but the narration makes the audio book impossible to get through. Honestly this fellow had a voice similar to my gps.

First of all the narrator sounds like her last gig was an erotica podcast. Absolutely horrid. Made me gag. Secondly I only got to about chapter 6 and had to quit. So far the story is a carbon copy of beauty and the beast with a thinly veiled attempt to replace the beast with a faery creature. I was just waiting for the tea cups to start singing. Total garbage.

I got to chapter 3 and had to quit. It’s simply dreadful. Boring. Weird. Makes no sense at all. Guidall always sounds like he’s got too much saliva in his mouth which drives me crazy.

Dear Lord this was dull! The prologue was good but that’s about it. Its minute details about bookkeeping, governing and city planning. Yaaawwwn. I’ve really enjoyed the previous books and thought I’d like this one too. No such luck. I’m about half way through and I’m just going to skip to the last 2 chapters to see if it’s any better. I got this book to listen too on a 20+ hour drive cross country. I literally shut it off and listened to the rubber on the road for 10 of those hours. I was falling asleep! The other thing that bugged me was that in the previous books and first few chapters the character of Sir Festarin (sp?) was pronounced Festa-RIN. Suddenly the narrator changed to Fes-TAR-in. Honestly it feels like the author had a six chapter story but an 80 chapter contract. Brutal.

I liked the story and narration in general but it was extremely annoying when the narrator would pronounce a persons’s name in 2 different ways. How was that not noticed by the director or editor? And its a main character- not just someone who shows up occasionally.
