So beautifully constructed and narrated, 'Before We Were Yours' had me putting everything aside that needed to be done in order to soak in the author's words and intentions, briefly enabling me to forget the challenges I personally have been facing, allowing me to give thanks for the course my life continues to take!

Histoire
Beloved author Elizabeth Gilbert returns to fiction with a unique love story set in the New York City theater world during the 1940s. Told from the perspective of an older woman as she looks back on her youth with both pleasure and regret (but mostly pleasure), City of Girls explores themes of female sexuality and promiscuity, as well as the idiosyncrasies of true love. In 1940, nineteen-year-old Vivian Morris has just been kicked out of Vassar College, owing to her lackluster freshman-year performance.

For 22 years, he languished in prison, maintaining his innocence. But no one was listening. He had no lawyer, no advocate on the outside.

Under the guise of a romance...
Évalué le: 2019-10-10
Jennifer Robson remains true to her love of history by weaving the realities of the end of World War I into a satisfying story format at the same time as balancing information and teachings, about the great difficulties faced by all those, victims of a world insanity, even well after its aftermath, when monies, clothing, medications, fuel and a roof over one's head had to be so carefully considered and managed in order to provide the very basics to all but the very well-to-do.

Jennifer Robson offers the readers of 'The Gown' reason for celebration in a world that today too often appears cold and uncaring. Though her work realistically describes challenges often still experienced today, she inserts a level of a caring humanity that offers the reader respite from the troubling news that too often eclipses the generosity of spirit so greatly needed in our communities.
