Truly a book I will never forget. Bitterness is a cage we lock ourselves in, I'm glad the writing of this apology brought freedom for Eve.

This is one of the best courses I've listened to yet! Prof. Armstrong is an engaging and passionate teacher. Her delivery and thorough understanding of this material is easy to absorb. I really enjoyed this course

I couldn't stop listening to this book! Wow. It was so well written. It was intelligent: you can tell this author knows the story of the Iliad and Trojan War backwards and forwards. The prose was so engrossing, so lyrical. The two narrators were both fantastic. I was imagining everything being described, down to smell of salt and feeling of hot sand. It was chilling and brutal in its matter of fact descriptions of the reality of war and sexual slavery and how we like to put a palatable sheen on HIStory. This book feels like a voice in the wilderness crying out to be heard. It's an ancient story but it reflects our modern times so eerily. The narrative choice to give Briseis an active first person narration and the male characters third person, more passive voice was brilliant. This is not their story, that one has been told before a thousand times. This one belongs to the girls, to the women forgotten in the sands of time.

There is a beauty to the prose of this novel. Though the story is fairly predictable, it is lovingly told and there is a poetry to the descriptions and dialogue that you don't get anymore. Richard Armitage's performance was wonderful. He has a warm and inviting voice and his character dialogue isn't as destracting as many other narrators. I very much enjoyed this audiobook.

I really enjoyed this course. It was insightful and illuminating. I learned so much about how languages changed over time and how that effects us today. My only quibble was the weird jabs and odd stereotyping the professor injected at surprising times. I suppose it was for humour's sake but it was a little off putting, especially since it would just come out of nowhere.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable listen. I learned SO much. I knew only snippets of Irish History prior to listening. The book is informative but also very engaging. The reader was very good. His speaking style was interesting and relaxing. I very much recommend it for those who know nothing about Irish History.
