Amazon.com started off delivering books through the mail. But its visionary founder, Jeff Bezos, wasn't content with being a bookseller. He wanted Amazon to become the everything store, offering limitless selection and seductive convenience at disruptively low prices. To do so, he developed a corporate culture of relentless ambition and secrecy that's never been cracked. Until now.

Amazing story about 1 individual who decided to make a difference. And was able to accomplish it. Dreams do come true. in Jeff's case, it took a little more than pixie dust. But he never wavered. Customer experience number one. Of course a lot of bodies littered that road to the ultimate everything store. But as he said in one of his commencement speeches. We are our decisions.

This is the story of a man who said that he would stop the motor of the world - and did. Is he a destroyer or a liberator? Why does he fight his hardest battle not against his enemies, but against the woman he loves? Tremendous in scope, breathtaking in its suspense, Atlas Shrugged is Ayn Rand's magnum opus and launched an ideology and a movement. With the publication of this work in 1957, Rand gained an instant following and became a phenomenon. Atlas Shrugged emerged as a premier moral apologia for capitalism, a defense that had an electrifying effect on millions of readers (and now listeners) who had never heard capitalism defended in other than technical terms.

Wasn't sure what to expect. "Atlas Shrugged" was at the top of someone's list to read. I managed to get thru half of the book the conventional way, when I wondered if an audio version was available. Glad I found it. The narration by Christopher Hunt was superb. Even when he changed roles from male to female. The inflections as he went from a weasel of a man to a hero, was excellent. The book itself is a classic. Anti-government to the nth degree, as the author sees that governments in the end, serve no purpose other than to leech off its own citizens and ultimately spiral out of control. Different parts of the world are already succumbing to the author's dystopia, no greater example than the EU and the US of A. Soon to implode from the inside, out. If only schools had this book as part of mandatory reading material. Alas, I'm sure if the government has its way, which it eventually will, this book along with 1984 will feed many a book burning. Not to be missed. Amazing.
