So the reviews on this book are amazing and I was fully prepared for lots of twists and turns! but unfortunately, not much happens until the very end and then there's really only one twist. There's a ton of Graphic sex which normally doesn't bug me but it got old after chapter after chapter of it.

good, but "Something in the water" is better

I think that Catherine Steadman is brilliant. I loved "something in the water" and I was so looking forward to this book as well. It didn't grab me like the other one did initially, but it definitely had its plot twists and turns. I think there was an overall lack of suspense that I was hoping for. I will definitely look forward to her next one though

stick with it!

overall I really enjoyed this book. I did feel that it was a little bit too detailed at first and it was taking a long time, but I stuck with it and I wasn't disappointed! there were a few details that just got lost and I figured that they would contribute to the overall story but they didn't.

I ended up loving this book but I almost returned it after the first few chapters. Lots of detail about teenage school dances and spending time at the mall had me bored. It gets better though. I wish she had spent more time on adult life rather than early life but overall it was great!

kept me guessing until the end

aside from the story inside the story that ropes you in, part of what makes this audiobook so good is the narrator. different voices for different characters really helps you understand everything a little bit better. I found myself wanting to listen to this all the time. this is about a podcast that chronicles of murder mystery and it's very different and inventive and will keep you guessing until the very end!

I didn't expect to love this book so much! The narration was fantastic and the story itself had me hooked from minute one. if you're looking for a book that will get you out of your own head and into this story with historical truth intertwined into it then download this.

found the concepts good but the stories somewhat rambling. I'd find myself wondering what the lesson was from time to time.

I've been a huge fan of Celeste for a long time and I was so glad about this book. it made me laugh a ton and let me get to know her a little bit more on an intimate level. I did take off one star because the end got really boring...lol

perhaps if you've struggled with the throes of addiction in the past this book might speak to you. or maybe if you've been in a marriage where your partner was unfaithful. overall, there were times where I loved this book but most of the time I didn't. it seemed that the main character didn't take any responsibility for her part in the unraveling of her marriage. I know that being unfaithful is never acceptable when you're in a marriage, but you do have to look inward sometimes and wonder if maybe your actions did something to contribute. anyway, long story long, I found this book just okay.

not good, not bad.

I wanted to love this story. I recently listened to the Dutch House and liked it quite a bit. for me, this story just didn't really have a purpose. the story is trying to weave all the twists and turns that life takes over different generations into an outcome, but I think it's lacking entertainment. quite slow at times.
