The story itself was a good idea given our society today. I think it could have been expanded more. At first it was hard to follow who was who and their connections although near the end it was made very clear. I would recommend but I think it could have been much better and the concept could have been written to appeal to both men and women whereas this novel definitely seems to be geared towards women.

Unnessasary bad language

I may have enjoyed the story if there had actually been more story and less cussing for no apparent reason.

No point

I pushed past the beginning and when the subject of depression came up I thought maybe finally some substance in the story, but I was wrong. So disappointing.

Loved it!

Nice light listen, full of fun. I laughed out loud several times. Just what you need when you want something easy. And although I knew what the outcome would be, the story takes you through enough turns that at times your not sure.

So completely disappointing!

I was looking so forward to this book. As a big Stephen King fan, I really enjoyed Mr. Mercedes. Although slightly different than his usual writing it still had that Stephen King flavour and kept you on the edge of your seat. THIS book, had absolutely no Stephen King feel and was so boring! I kept persevering through thinking something would change but it stayed boring. More than half felt like just descriptions of child abuse with flimsy reasoning for it. The only good I can give it, is the narrator was good. I can’t recommend at all. Don’t use a credit on this.

Do not miss this one! I never saw the twists coming and I didn’t guess the end at all. Terrific read or listen. I also really enjoyed the narrator. Well done on all levels!

So exciting! I couldn’t put it down. Each chapter had me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. If you enjoy psychological thrillers you will definitely enjoy this one.

Great story, well thought out. So close to what our reality could actually turn into. A great conversation starter. I will recommend this book to my winter book club.

What started out as a good interesting story morphed into something strange and unenjoyable. Too much foul language that was unnecessary. And then scenes, like the rape one where I just thought it added no value to the story and frankly didn’t make any sense for the story line of the pastor.

Totally enjoyable

This novel definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. At times I didn’t want to stop listening. The only disappointment was the very end. Which is why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. It just kind of fell flat at the end but otherwise a good read. Plenty of surprising moments and shows the complexities of our emotions as we as children grow through any kind of traumas and as an adult how things are not so black and white.
