I saw the reviews on this a long time ago, they were terrible, so I did not bother to download it. Recently it started showing up on my recommended list, the reviews on it were very positive, so, sheep that I am, I downloaded it, forgetting about the earlier reviews. I can safely say, the early reviews were spot on. The book is incomprehensible - I am returning it, I cannot even get to the end of chapter one!

If you enjoyed DC ...

Wasn’t sure how this would continue from the last of the DC Smith series, but now I have finished it, I can say that it continued with a story, plot and delivery that was absolutely excellent. Very detailed, but it caught the attention at each and every stage with a continuation of the prior set of characters, and the development of a few new ones.

Would I recommend this book - definitely - looking forward to more too.

Very simplistic, well read, no “mystery” content

Very simple writing and story of a Newfoundland RCMP crime story. Not in the least believable or interesting. I Passed the time to maintain interest while it played back by counting the number of cups of coffee and snacks that the hero consumed during the playback.

The reader is ok, the material is very mundane.

Another good story, well told

There is a whole load of rubbish in audio format on this and other sites, fortunately this series is excellent. A good story, with nice details from the prior books in the series.

Characters are a bit “goodie two shoes” but the package is still an entertaining and non-gory read for anyone.

Looking forward to more by same author in the future.

Over the top reading performance; mediocre story

I had forgotten just how bad this reader can be. Usually I avoid anything read by Scott Brick, but, I needed something to read for the weekend, and thought that perhaps this might be one of his better reads. I was wrong, he sounds so overwrought, why cannot he simply read the story in the clear voice which he undoubtedly has without making the listener feel that The reader is wringing his hands in anguish all the time?

The story? What story? Really found it hard to get past the reader, but when I tried hard, it was slow and featureless.

Back to the site to find something else.

The story was weak. It was very slow and over written, too long spent on inconsequential scenes. The attempt to act-out the book rather than just to narrate it results in many segments that are heavily, and poorly accented, and frankly might be incomprehensible to anyone not a native Brit, and although a Brit myself I could not understand a lot of the story because of this awful acting.
I have read this series from end to end, no more please!

Ignore the reviews ..

This is a weak story with weak science read badly. Some of the “headline’ readings and news quotes are painful on the ears and very, very amateurish. I have not returned a book in quite a while, but this rubbish is on its way back.
