As the title says the story is great but the narrator is not good or enjoyable at all. The narrator in the first book was pretty good, enough so I had no issues becoming immersed in the story. So heres the down side, this narrator the guy who has done the second book appears to narrate a few other books in this series, im not to keen on continuing on with this knowing this crappy narrator has done more books in this series. But the narrator for the last few books feels to have a good voice for this type of story, so I'm undecided wether or not to continue as this story is amazing, id say more enjoyable than the king killer series. Its a hard choice, maybe you can deal with the crappy narrator better than I, id at least give it a try as im doing.

Not a good feel

I’m going to return this book, I listened for about two hours and I cant get into this story.
First off, this narrator is not good for a military scifi style book , he has a good voice but he needs to have more expression, right now it’s pretty much just mono tone with little bits of octave changes at the start and end of sentences, he doesn’t capture that military style bering like RC Bray or Ray Porter. I think this narrator would be good for one of those litrpg books, he needs to work on his performance and he would probably be similar to Nick Podel from Chaos Seeds.

Now all that being said I don’t think a legend like RC Bray would make this a great book, perhaps he could make it a decent book. The story so far is just boring and flat, I just can’t get excited to continue on. Now keep in mind I only listened to this first book for a couple hours so maybe the books get better, I will not know. I was hoping for a Mass Effect(game) feeling book, but this one is not that.

What a great book to start off a great series. Hard to put into too many words without giving away spoilers, this book was amazing, so much so I binged all the way from start to finish and I’ve only done that for a few books out of my 200+ audible collection. Great story telling, very well paced and developed plot, great characters you become heavily invested in, there is one great loss in this book so far. And ya, very enjoyable book

This book is good but feels like a bit of a series filler, I feel the author could have fit this story in the previous book and next book, not have this story as a stand-alone book. All that being said there is some good and interesting plot and back story in this book and it’s definitely worth reading/listening to. I would give details about the plot and back stories but if you’ve made it this far in the expanse series then you get the jest of what’s going on. The narrator is on point as usual.

Great series so far

So far this series is turning out to be in my top 5 list. Tbh I didn’t like the first book very much but decided to continue on with the second book and so on. I will say there is very little page filler in all the books ive listened to so far, every book seems to be paced quite well. I will definitely complete this entire series and I will definitely watch the entire tv series once I finish these books. This current book is centred around being on one planet, its sounds mundane and lacking in content until you complete the entire book, you will find out this planet is a great opener to understanding the race who built the proto-molecule.

Honestly good

I got this book on a deal and I’m happy to say its a surprisingly a good read. This book seems to be underrated but don’t let that fool you, so far its a great series, in fact ive purchased the other two books. I don’t do spoilers so you’ll have to give it a go but. One thing I can say that will not spoil the book is, the entire real world in this book is completely under the control of an AI, so there is some pretty interesting story arcs both in game and in the real world. Dystopian? You be the judge

Weak start...but wait theres more!

I almost returned this book, the beginning of this book was terrible, it did not hook me at all, I found the characters irritating. But based on the good reviews I kept listening and im glad I did, this book is great and the two main characters are great. This would have been a 5 star review except for the terrible start to this book. I also did not like the narrator at first, he possibly sucked due to a weak start to the book? Idk. But he gets much better and ends up being great to listen to. Now piss off and go listen to a book

Not a bad start to what seems to be an interesting series, it started out slow for me but got interesting enough for me to write this review and buy the next book in the series. Im going to be lazy here and not state any other reasons why I like this book except for the reason I have stated, give it a go, im sure you will like it.

This is not the typical type of book I would read, I'm mostly into Science Fiction and magic based books but I must say I'm glad I gave this book a try, it was a pretty good story. You will read reviews about rape in this book and in fact there are some rape themed scenes, but this is a book about a dystopian future, I will also point out that the windup girl whom is abused was engineered to be a sex companion, its up to you how you want to think of the sexual assaults. I for one understood it as her being misused from her original intended purpose of being a sexual companion. The windup girl was only every raped by another female, The male companions had to pay for there pleasure.

Not happy with Terry!

Well this book is a serious letdown for me, I thought I was getting the next book in the Spellmonger series, well I was sorely mistaken.

This is by far one of my most favourite book series on Audible, but this book will not be included, I doubt I will even finish this book. In fact im more than likely going to have my credit refunded.

If you want a book that basically goes nowhere and focuses on Pentandra and the Eeshey God of love or lust or whatever then this book is for you. For the first few hours of this book I was asking myself is the whole book going to be about this crap, then I got curious and jumped to a few later chapters and realized yes.....yes indeed its about Pentandra and Eeshey. Whats worse is there seems to be 35 hours focusing on one bloody festival including Characters I don’t and will never care about. Are you serious Terry??? 35+ hours of shite content that adds no substance to the spellmonger series??? This book should be a standalone side story, or possibly 2-3 hours in a proper Spellmonger book, you know like some basic tying backstorys together, but an entire book dedicated to a crapy and I mean Crapy story. Wow im so disappointed that an Author like Terry would release this.

Maybe you the reader of this review will like this book, good luck.
