Quite basic information and doesn’t really get into somewhat more helpful details until halfway through. Basically just goes on about importance of buying in a safe neighbourhood, taking size of family into consideration, etc. I was hoping for something more detailed that would discuss mortgage options, difference between using bank versus mortgage broker, etc. This book just contained very very basic information that seemed more common sense than anything else.

The narrator read way too slowly but if you fix the speed to 1.25x then it’s much more pleasant to listen to. There were a few technical glitches with this book as I kept having to contact customer service repeatedly but eventually things got sorted out...it just kind of killed the momentum of the book for me. Overall though, I love this author and would definitely recommend this book.

Jen and Hugh Maddox have just survived every parent's worst nightmare. Relieved, but still terrified, they sit by the hospital bedside of their 15-year-old daughter, Lana, who was found bloodied, bruised, and disoriented after going missing for four days during a mother-daughter vacation in the country. As Lana lies mute in bed, unwilling or unable to articulate what happened to her during that period, the national media speculates wildly and Jen and Hugh try to answer many questions.

I’m not sure what this book intended to be but I found it just dragged on from beginning to end. I didn’t really look forward to listening to it because it was just so very blah. I ended up skipping the last few chapters and just listened to the end because I was so over it and wanted to start something more interesting. Dull book, blah ending. Definitely not a thriller, just a sleepy read about family dynamics and issues.

I loved the story and the narration in this book. For me, it definitely fulfilled the role of a thriller. I wish she had more books like this one. I was surprised by the different twists and turns and found myself feeling so sad once it was over...because I didn't want it to end.

Disappointing. I kept waiting for the “thriller” part of the book and it didn’t come until the last 45 min of the whole thing. Even then I found it to be very far fetched and wrapped up too rapidly.

The book itself was a bit boring to me. It was focused on the character of Judy and her perspective for most of it and frankly, I didn’t find her to be all that interesting. I kept listening in the hopes that it would eventually pick up but it just didn’t do it for me. The best part of this book was the narration because the story itself was just meh.
