Considering the first book (year 1) was my favorite fiction book I've read or listened to, I was a bit scared that book 2 might of dropped the ball a bit. Many authors tend to write something half assed because of the success of the first book. The 2nd book of the series however feels like a natural flow that's just as well thought out if not better than the previous book. At this point, I'm halfway through year 3 and I can already tell you that book 3 and 4 are just as amazing or going to be as amazing as any other book in this series... if not better. I'm a bit saddened by the fact that I'm currently listening to the best series that I'll probably listen to, in the same way you feel when you watch GoT and are nearing the end. I haven't looked it up since I'm trying to avoid spoilers, but I'm praying that he will be adding far more books to this series than just 4.

Knowledge is power. That would be the motto of Lander University, had it not been snatched up and used to death by others long before the school was founded. For while Lander offers a full range of courses to nearly all students, it also offers a small number of specialty classes to a very select few. Lander is home to the Hero Certification Program, a curriculum designed to develop students with superhuman capabilities, commonly known as Supers, into official Heroes.

I've only discovered this author recently when I picked up his audio book Second hand curses. It was a brilliant book that left me craving for a sequel! After a little bit of research, I found that there were no sequels but he had quite a few other books he had published.. so, I decided to pick up NPCs & Super Powereds.

I started with NPCs. Quite a good book! It has an Interesting concept, a good story line and interesting characters. It made for a great listening experience. I enjoyed it nearly as much as second hand curses. I fully intent to eventually finish the series.

However, before proceeding, I decided I wanted to change the flavour a bit and give Super Powereds a shot. My expectations were a bit lower due to the topic, but upon starting it, I almost immediately got sucked in. It’s quite possibly the fastest I’ve finished a ~30 hour book. Every aspect of this series is quite a few notches above anything else he’s written. Don’t get me wrong, his other work is also good… but this… I wasn’t expecting. This is game of thrones level. I’m just happy I started listening to it when there are 3 more titles in the series, because I really don’t think I’ll be able to get enough, even after listening to a cumulative 160 hours of it. At the time of this review, this is my favourite fiction book. I can only expect the sequels to be as good or better.

The way they did the audio should become a standard for all future books. They used 2 voice actors to do the job and added quite a nice kick to the story. In terms of story, it's very interesting. Confusing in some moments, but then as the chapter progresses, it becomes better understood. I'm hoping for a sequel!

The book had the potential to be the best book I've listened to, but becomes a bit average 2/3rds through. The audio is top notch. He's probably the best or one of the bests voice actor on here.

Marc Headley provides an insider's view of life as a member of Scientology's "Sea Organization". Marc worked at Scientology's secret desert compound, which houses all Scientology management, for 15 years. The 500-acre property is located deep in the California desert. The local townspeople were told lectures and films were made there. But is that all that was happening? It is the location of a multi-million-dollar home for L. Ron Hubbard, built two decades after his death. It is the home of Scientology's current leader, David Miscavige.

I almost gave this book a shitty review because Marc Headley sounded like a biased prick in the first couple chapters.. I'm so happy I kept on listening though. If you manage to get past his obnoxious spoiled and egotistical past, described in the first couple chapters, you start to get to the core of the subject.. how things run in the higher stratas of Scientology. Being an ex sea organization member my self, I can confirm that the things he described are as legitimate as it gets. He however, made it to the highest ranks of the sea organization and worked very closely with David Miscavige and RTC (the highest order or Scientology rank) which tells very well how they operate and some of the disgusting tactics they use. For fun, I typed in Marc Headley and this Scientology paid result appeared to smear his and his wife's image.. makes you realize how much bullshit the church of Scientology peddles. they have so much to lose if anything in this book becomes common knowledge, so they made this stupid video in an attempt to smear him.. Marc is nothing less than a hero for everything he did and enduring the smear campaign from the church in order to get truth out.

I've read a few books by now regarding Scientology, listened to a bunch of podcasts and watched a few documentaries.. However, this book stood out to me, not only because it paints a very clear picture about the inner workings of Scientology and the Sea Organization, but also because everything she lived was incredibly interesting. I was listening to this expecting to uncover a bit more about the Miscavige family, but got sucked in by the harrowing details of her life, which could easily be turned into an incredible movie.

On of my pet peeves when reading or listening to someone's side of a story is that it often feels biased, twisted or exaggerated... however, I couldn't find an ounce of anything that might of felt distorted. This an honest recounting of her own story and will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire book.
