I have never listened to a book by JP Delaney and am so glad I did as the last few books I have listened to by other authors have been disappointing. I thought the narration was very well done and each of the characters was easy to distinguish. It wasn't so much a psychological thriller, but more of a mystery and trying to figure out how it would end. It ended as I thought it would with a few surprises thrown in. All in all a good listen while driving, walking and completing some chores. I will definitely be looking for more books by JP Delaney.

I started to listen to this again for the 3rd time because I keep losing interest. So far it is very slow moving and I really don't like the narrator. I am making dinner so will give it a listen into the next chapter to see how it goes. So far it is boring.

Not a bad listen

I enjoyed listening to this book, however, I figured it out in the first few chapters of the book. I kept listening (of course!) to see if I was right. :) If you are looking for an easy listen and not too much depth, then spend a credit.

I read all the fabulous reviews on this book so was surprised when I first starting listening to it that I did not find it compelling. I listened for a few chapters and then turned it off. After a few weeks, I thought I would try again, sometimes taking a break gives a new perspective, so I started to listen to the book from the beginning with anticipation. I made myself listen to a few more chapters than the first time I tried to listen to it, but ended up turning it off. I can't return this book because it was part of a 2 for 1 promo otherwise I would. It was only half a credit, so no great loss.

I bought this book because it was $4.95. So glad I didn't waste a credit on it. This book takes so long to get to the point. Something interesting happens, and then we get to see what they are going to eat for dinner and how they cook it. I would have finished the book much sooner if it didn't keep stopping and talking about the 'veal chops in a rich wine sauce' while discussing a serious issue. I enjoy cooking and experimenting with recipes, but this book gets way off track when it goes on an on about food. The narrators are decent. Maybe that is why I keep listening to this long winded book.

I loved this book. This book is right up there with, 'We were the lucky ones,' by Georgia Hunter, 'The Nightingale' by Kristin Hannah and 'Lilac Girls' by Martha Hall Kelly. I added these books as I found out about 'A view Across the Rooftops' from a review that someone wrote on a different book. I read the Audible.com reviews as well as the Audible.ca reviews. I enjoyed the narrator and the characters and their story in the book. It usually takes me a while to get through an audio book as I tend to listen when driving, or working on different project so I generally listen for a couple hours at a time. I put on my headphones and listened to this book over two days and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Terrible narrator!

Oh my goodness. I can't stand the narrator! Total turn off. I could not get past the first minute! I should have listened to the sample. This is only Book 1 for this story. I can't get through one minute; there is no way I can listen to 2 books. I have read print copies of Elin Hilderbrand books, so will stick to this in the future. I am going to get my credit back.

Lisa Jewell can do better than this

This was a depressing book. I have read a few of Lisa Jewell's book and this is one I would not recommend. I love Helen Duff as a narrator and enjoyed listening to her. I felt that the book dragged on. A lot happened over a fortnight and the conclusion all came together in a neat little package at the end. Kind of hard to believe given the history of some of the characters.

I love books narrated by Helen Duff. I found this one a bit confusing between the characters as her voice was the same for everyone. Sometimes I had to backtrack to see which character was speaking. It was an interesting story with each character telling their story and it held my interest almost to the end. Without giving out too much information, the book suddenly jumped ahead 10 years and and barely touched on some things that had been happening prior to that. Not sure if I would choose one of Ali Mercer's books again.

Enjoyable

This is the second audio book I have purchased by Linwood Barclay. It was fairly enjoyable to listen to. The narrator is very good. I figured out ' who done it' fairly early on by bits and pieces of information that were scattered throughout the story line. I always listen to books when working on a project or on a road trip, so this was a worthwhile book for me. It kept me engaged.
