Happy I started my year off with one of my favorite authors. Wasn't one of my favorites, or would make my top 10 Sparks books, but it was a good read. I enjoyed learning from the characters, and seeing life from their pov. This book made my yearning to travel to North Carolina even stronger!

I love Ellen.

I just love Ellen so much. This is a funny quick read/listen to. Quirky, sarcastic, makes you laugh out loud. It's not a tell all memoir or anything like that, simply some interesting thoughts and ideas.

Definitely exactly what I needed for a light, funny, uplifting read. I would recommend for sure. 😊

... Me Before you meets rated R Hallmark movie.

It was definitely a light hearted cheesy romance that I happily indulged.

Was it the absolute best love story, no. Did I care who ended up with who, not really. I didn't understand "why" for a bit or feel the desire for certain people to end up with each other... Trying not to spoil lol.

But none the less, it was good. 😊

Ok.

I like Sally Field in many of her roles. I was excited to learn more about her and hear about her experience in many of the films I love. The three stars I'm giving this memoir is purely for the fact that she was truly brave to share so much about the unpretty, raw, and awful things she went through, thought about, and felt.

Because of her brutal honesty I found I could relate on some level, which was nice as a reader. But I also found it a bit... For lack of a better word, tiring. It had a very negative energy for me.

In 21 chapters I'd say maybe 1 or 2 actually have happy stories to share and good moments that will make you smile.

Major trigger warnings as she describes in detail the sexual abuse she experiences at the hands of her step father. It's horrifying.

I commend her for sharing her story, I love a good memoir, and truly believe everyone's story is interesting and worth sharing, but I don't think this is one I'd recommend to many. If you're a die hard Sally Field fan then go for it. If you grew up loving Gidget and The Flying Nun, proceed with caution.

Wonderful

This was just the kind of personal development I needed to start my year off with. So much goodness. So much truth. So many wonderful, yummy treats for my souuuuuul!!!!

I was introduced to Dr. Wayne Dyer by a wonderful friend of mine, who showed me his books for children. (amazing too I must add)

I used my audible credit for The Power of Intention, as Intentional is my word choice for 2018.

While some of his beliefs and the things he shares don't necessarily coincide with my religious beliefs, I can still find so much truth and help in what he has to offer!

This is a book I would completely recommend to anyone who is hoping to gain more peace, balance, happiness, order, and goodness in their life.

The ideas he presents are so interesting, and made a strong impression on me. And if anything reaffirmed the beliefs I already have.

5/5, and can't wait for my next audible credit to listen to another one of his books.

Thoroughly enjoyed getting to know about the life of one of my favorite comedians.

I loved learning about how much thought he out in to creating a new kind of comedy.

The banjo in between sections was a lovely touch.

Solid memoir, would definitely recommend.

This book was very different from the first two I've read this year. It had a completely different energy and emotion to it. It was pretty dark, sad, emotional, mature themed definitely. Heartbreaking, really.

A couple moments that I found troubling and really didn't enjoy. Some moments hit too close to home for me, and I just wasn't ready for that. Others, were hard to listen to because of how horrible they were, particularly the stories of abuse. Again, I found there were too many F bombs, especially at this one part, I fast forwarded through a few parts.

It wasn't my favorite read (or rather listen to), but it wasn't the worst.

What I thought the overall message was going to be, (how we need to make sure we take time alone to reconnect with ourselves. Especially in nature.) kinda missed the mark for me in this book.

I do agree that we need to push ourselves out of our comfort zones if we want to make big changes in our life. This book definitely gave a message of that.

Everyone has their own story, and journey that they have the right to share, and Cheryl Strayed definitely did. However, I will say, I'm not sure why, but I got a lot of James Frey, "A Million Little Pieces"  vibes while listening to this.

Not one I'd recommend.

I love this woman. I think we'd be best friends if we met in person. This is another book I'd definitely recommend listening to. Her voice is beautiful and calming. The way she writes is very much the way she speaks, which is well, delightful!

I loved learning more about how quickly she knew her comfort and limits when beginning acting, and because of that, was able to have control over her career and not be dragged down by the "hunger games", that is Hollywood.

I smiled and giggled a lot throughout!!!

Loved hearing about her experience in two of my favorite shows. (Gilmore Girls & Parenthood, both shows are highly recommended by me) I became quite emotional as she recounted her time on these sets, and especially the set of A Year in the Life. So, if you're fans of Gilmore Girls...and cry a lot like I do, be prepared for that!

Also, her diet tips are AMAZING and completely what I follow. (a.k.a not following fads, and eating proper portions and exercising)  ;-) seriously, I have so much more love and respect for this woman.

Tom Hanks is the best.

Wonderful collection of short stories written by my favorite actor. I'd say it's mature themed, quite a few f bombs, more than I expected.

I liked how different each of the stories were. Stories of relationships, soldiers dealing with PTSD, the ridiculousness of the film industry (which I can picture being very closely based off of his experiences), child/parent relationships, mothers instinct, divorce. Stories about, dealing with struggles of being pushed out of your comfort zone, time travel, the complexity of immigrating to a new country.

I think his years of being the best actor in Hollywood (IMO) have greatly helped his craft. Loved little nods to his own work, specifically Apollo 13. The characters and their storylines came to life, their dialogue was great and most importantly he does the different accents too! (In the audio version obviously)

I really enjoyed it overall, and would recommend getting the book on audible! Although, I'd still love a physical copy of the book too. <3 even if you don't love Tom Hanks like I do, but enjoy wonderfully written short stories, you should give this a try.
