It’s tough to rate it without spoilers, but I would not recommend this book. It’s too repetitive, the characters go through the same questions and feelings over and over, there’s a lack of suspense, the dialogues are dry and you get spoon-fed new information, no subtleties to build the mystery on.

Excellent series!

I just hope more books will come! Can’t have enough of the characters, the mystery as well as the impersonation perfectly delivered by Robert Glenister.
Robert Galbraith/J.K, please write more!

Brilliant story!

You will not be disappointed, everything runs smoothly and the ending is perfect. Strongly recommend this book.

I did not enjoy this book at all. Started up promising, but it lacked any deep insight and character development. It was more a collection of graphic depictions of different child births than a narrative about the struggles of living during WW2. If you want to enjoy a good WW2 novel I highly recommend “the Alice Network”, or “The Nightingale”, or “the Room on Rue Amelie”. This one doesn’t come close.
And the narrator’s performance was tough, the whining was awful, exaggerated.

Great story that should make us all pause and check our prejudice against mental health and how quick we are to judge others. Such a well written story that keeps peeling off layers of the main character’s drama with beautiful language, dialogue and introspection.
I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more by Gail Honeyman.
Narration was perfect too.

There are too many intricacies and characters, the story tries too hard to be interesting, but it isn’t entertaining at all. Language is pretty poor and metaphors forced.
I wish I didn’t have to rate a book so poorly, but it’s not worth the money or audible credit.

Another amazing story by Kate Quinn

It is rare that I like two books written by the same author equally. I have enjoyed “the Alice network” greatly and I was excited to see another book follow by Kate Quinn. And it’s just as good! Excellent story, very well written and Saskia does such a great job narrating. Would recommend this book wholeheartedly. I hope to see more in the future and hope the collaboration between the author and narrator continue.

The story is not the greatest, but it will do as an easy thriller. A bit dull and forced. Ok overall.

Waste of time. Such a sappy overly-dragged love story. I am 20 years older than when I started this book. No substance, no characters, no story.. just cliches ever pursuing some soft of twist. And it’s stereotyping women as weak and men as neanderthal pigs. Not worth the money!

This is a book I recommend full heartedly. Its greatness lies in its simplicity, however there is nothing simple about the story, the emotions it stirs up or the characters you fall in love with. It has a nice pace too and Madeleine did a superb job giving life to all the characters. I’d give it 6 stars if I could.
